Without conclusions to overcome the crisis - this is how the third meeting of representatives ended Government of Serbia and universities.
Rector University in Belgrade Vladan Djokic he said that on Thursday (May 8) the records of universities in Serbia are with the prime minister By Đuro Macuta and the Minister of Education Dejan Vuk Stanković talked about the way to overcome the crisis, but that no conclusion was reached, no solutions were given and that the talks will continue.
"I don't see any big progress, because those who should decide about it are not at these meetings, they are the students," Đokić told reporters after the meeting, reports FoNet.
As for the issue on which the representatives of the Government emphasized, which is the continuation and implementation of classes, the rector said that they are of the opinion that only the students who are in the blockade can decide on this.
When asked if there is a chance for students to join the discussions, he said that he did not know.
None of the annulment of the adopted decrees
As he said, there was no talk of calling elections, but that they talked about how certain decrees of the previous government create problems, that the university is collapsing financially, that professors and assistants receive 12 percent of their salary, that inspections impose fines on higher education institutions, and that they appealed for those decrees to be "cancelled", but that "nothing came of it".
Đokić added that at the previous meeting they presented the government representatives with a platform for solving the problem, but that today "there was not much talk about it".
He stated that the rectors of the universities from Kragujevac, Niš, Novi Pazar, Novi Sad and the University of Arts attended the meeting in the Government of Serbia.
Let's remind you that two meetings of representatives of the university and the authorities were held earlier. The second meeting was initially cancelled, since the rector of the University of Belgrade Vladan Đokić received an invitation to a hearing on the same day following the lawsuit filed by Miloš Pavlović, a representative who calls himself Students who want to learn.
It's a meeting held a few days later.
