Today, farmers will begin blocking roads in several cities in Serbia until the demands are met, Nedeljko Savić, president of the STIG association from Požarevac, told the "Vremena" portal.
"Since this morning, we have been out on the roads. For now, the associations are in their places, but the roads are blocked. We went out with tractors in two columns and we will stay until we get answers to the demands," says Savić.
For now, there is no information yet if the farmers will head to Belgrade and when. The farmers also emphasized that they expect answers to their requests from Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, with whom they originally spoke.
Let us remind you that after the unsuccessful meeting with the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, the farmers were offered to talk with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, during the day yesterday. They refused the meeting and confirmed that they will persist in their protests until the demands are met.
They demand equal treatment.
Farmers demand subsidies of 300 euros per hectare and that excise duty and VAT are not calculated on diesel, as well as that the subsidy per cow amounts to 40.000 dinars.
Farmers and herders expect the authorities to provide them with the price of agricultural products, wheat, corn, soybeans and others, as on the stock exchanges in Budapest and Paris.
Also, the farmers tried to point out the disturbances in the market, for example that the price of wheat of 18 dinars is unacceptable because they cannot produce it at such a low price.
One of the demands is to establish protective buying prices for fresh milk of 78 dinars plus value-added tax, recourse for dairy cows of 40.000 dinars per head, regulation of the import of milk and dairy products, and a minimum premium for milk of 20 dinars.
