There are ten days left until the announced big student holiday protest at Slavija Square in Belgrade, the first mass gathering in the capital to which the students invited after a few months.
"This is a city where there is no reason for you to be alone in it on May 23," Bayaga students quoted in a post on social networks and thus invited citizens to come to a new large student protest.
On that day, students will be reminded of their unfulfilled requirements, writes Nova.rs.
"On the Slavia On May 23, we will remember what started it all, the student demands that have been the foundation of our struggle for a year and a half and which are still unfulfilled. Last year at this time, we made the decision to wait no longer and responsibly took matters into our own hands. We have started working on a plan and structure that will create the conditions for such demands, which are the basis of a democratic society, to be systematically fulfilled and that will enable Serbia to develop in the direction of justice and expertise", is the attitude of the blocked students as reported by the portal.

Waiting for the elections
That's why, they add, they asked elections. Calling elections is one of their key demands from spring 2025.
While bidding on dates and waiting for the final decision on when and in which format the polls will go,
"Now that the elections are approaching, we wanted to gather again in an old place, a place that has repeatedly counted record attendance and shines in the dark. In a city where no one is alone and where hope is reborn, because things will change soon", the students say.
At the new protest, they will talk more about solutions than problems, they added.
"With this meeting, the idea is to present Serbia as we want to see it in the future and as we will all make it through organized efforts. We will also talk about some next steps", reports Nova the attitude of the students in the blockade.
They announce that in addition to the students in the blockade of the University of Belgrade, their colleagues from other universities will also be at the meeting.

Slavija as the place of the most massive protests
Everyone still vividly remembers the first gathering in Slavia, which ignited the spark of struggle and greatly disturbed the authorities. It was December 2024, and according to the estimates of the Archives of Public Meetings, around 100.000 people gathered then.
Slavija was also the central meeting place on March 15, 2025. There were several hundreds of thousands gathered on the streets in Belgrade at that time. Then the biggest protest in the history of Serbia was held.
It is the day for which numerous foreign and domestic experts claim that a sound cannon was fired at the gathered during the minute of silence, which the authorities in Serbia have never admitted. Hundreds of testimonies collected by "Vreme" spoke of an eerie wave and sound that "hit" people in Kralja Milana Street.
