The deadline for submitting electoral lists for the parliamentary elections is December 17 expired at midnight, and the Republican Electoral Commission has so far announced 13 election lists, while seven more are pending. However, games with illegitimate signings on certain lists are in full swing.
Members of the City Election Commission Sofija Mandić, Zoran Alimpić and Vladica Ilić announced at a press conference today a series of new irregularities that they found on the submitted lists for the Belgrade elections. Journalist Jelena Zorić is among those whose signatures, without approval, were among those submitted to GIK. In an interview with Nova.rs, she explains that her name was, without her knowledge, on two election lists - "Ćale, this is for you" and "Serbia in the West". reports Nova.rs.
"I know Sofija Mandić (member of GIK, ed.), she was my interlocutor several times. She knows my age, but she doesn't know my date of birth and address. She called me last night and asked about that information, when I told her, we found that everything matches and that I am on the list of "Serbia in the West".
"I was shocked, I took it very hard," Zorić tells Nova.rs and adds:
"I've done dozens of stories on the topic of misuse of personal data and now it's happening to me. So, here, various services can take away your right to your name and surname, to your personal identification number... There is nothing personal anymore in a country where the services act like hordes and attack every citizen".
Sofija Mandić's name was also found on another list. "It's a "Sorry, this is for you" list.
"It is the ultimate scandal, shameless abuse." I immediately asked the GIK for insight into whether my name is on these lists. Today I am going to submit a complaint to GIK, and then I will file a criminal complaint. First, against the NN persons, and when I have insight into the lists, then also against the notary public", says Zorić. She says that as a journalist, she never signed any electoral list, nor did she support any political party.
Sofija Todorović from the Youth Initiative for Human Rights, whose name was faked on one of the papers, said that she was glad that Kovačević was here, so that we could hear an explanation for what was happening.
"I am a very angry citizen today. Under no circumstances should this undermining of the integrity of the electoral process be the subject of a political struggle. I would not like this to demotivate people, but rather to make citizens really angry. I believe that only by reacting to this type of abuse can we bring ourselves to the point that on the day we go to the polling stations, we don't have to stomach 750 times and go to the elections blindfolded in order to do our civic duty," said Sofija Todorović from the Youth Initiative. for human rights, whose name was forged on one of the papers.
On this occasion, Bishop Ilić says that this is not their fight against any electoral list or party, but it is a fight against this phenomenon, where the personal data of a large number of citizens are illegally collected and misused.
"In some normal circumstances, what we are doing would be done by the prosecutor's office and the police, who are still not doing anything new." On the other hand, we are also under great pressure in GIK, of which we are members, while we review this documentation. Representatives from other parties, I would say from the ruling parties, supervise us as we do this and do not allow us to copy personal data and copy documentation. We are not giving up," Ilić said.
