President Albania Bajram Begaj visited on Wednesday Bujanovac and Preševo. As the Bujanovačke portal reports, numerous security and protocol failures were recorded.
Reception in front of the Municipality
Begaj was welcomed in front of the Municipality of Bujanovac by President Arber Pajaziti and the first man of the local assembly Driton Redzepi and his associates. They discussed the challenges facing the region, as well as the process of European integration of Albania.
On the occasion of this event, the movement "Ćale, ovo je za tebe" and the coalition "Alliance for the South of Serbia" announced themselves. They welcomed the arrival of the President of Albania, but also asked several questions to the Serbian authorities, including who approved the Albanian president's security guards to carry long barrels and whether it is the practice for the foreign service to carry automatic rifles in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the country.
In the statement, they also ask on the basis of which regulations the main street in Bujanovac was blocked, as well as why the security of the President of Albania and control of access to the municipality was not the responsibility of the Serbian police alone.
Protocol-related answers are also sought during the visit.
It is not clear why no Serbian state official welcomed the President of Albania, nor why the Serbian flag was not displayed on the Bujanovac municipality building during the reception.
The statement was signed by Isidor Stefanović, vice president of the movement "Ćale, ovo je za tebe" and the coalition "Alliance for the South of Serbia".
Competent institutions have not yet given official explanations about these circumstances.
