Students in the blockade on Saturday, June 28, they are organizing a new big one protest in Belgrade and while it is debated whether it will be as extensive as the rally March 15, the regime media launched an action to intimidate citizens before the announced gathering.
Mladen Nikolić, a chemist and former republican inspector, said on "Pink" TV that he "heard gossip, that he has information that the liberal opposition is preparing."
"(I have information) that snipers have arrived from Ukraine, from Georgia, that if there is no bloodshed on June 28 or 29, that they will push it a little. They will, simply, shoot at the students. And then you convince anyone in this country that Aleksandar Vučić did not do it," he said.
The presenters asked him where he got this information, to which he did not answer, talking about how he "listened to the liberal opposition when he had a little to drink".
Causing panic?
The announcement that snipers brought from abroad will shoot at the demonstrators in order to blame it on the regime of Aleksandar Vučić is a serious claim, and if it is not true, then Nikolić committed a criminal act, which the regime is currently very often and willingly using against people who publish undesirable information on social networks, writes Nova.
It is about the crime of causing panic and disorder. Paragraph two of this criminal offense states: "If the offense referred to in paragraph 1 of this article is committed through means of public information or similar means or at a public gathering, the perpetrator will be punished with imprisonment from six months to five years."
The High Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, as well as the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia, did not answer whether Mladen Nikolić informed them of his findings, nor whether he was questioned in any capacity after the statements about the snipers. It was not answered whether any Ukrainian, Georgian or any other foreign citizen was arrested who was preparing a terrorist attack for Vidovdan. It was not answered whether Nikolić was interrogated for spreading false news and causing panic and disorder, reports Nova.
The Move-Change movement filed a criminal complaint
The Move-Change movement filed a criminal complaint against political analyst Mladen Nikolić who appeared on the Pink TV program with the scandalous claim that "Ukrainian snipers will shoot at students" in order to cause bloodshed at the protests, they stated in a statement.
"Such a statement does not only spread panic and misinformation, but directly threatens the safety of citizens and aims to criminalize young people who peacefully protest. We demand an immediate reaction and determination of responsibility from the competent institutions," the statement said.
