On the territory of the Two Kings fire firefighters-rescuers have been putting out the fire since this morning. On Troglav above Bogutovac, they managed to bring the fire under control, in the village of Žarče above Ušće in the Ibar Gorge, 60 hectares of pine forest are burning.
"In Žarče, we are trying to protect the houses and residents of Seoce," Deputy Head of the Department for Emergency Situations in Kraljevo, Pera Luković, told RTS.
"The terrain is extremely difficult, inaccessible, we put out with knapsacks on both fire sites. We are making extraordinary efforts in Žarče, but the wind is also blowing, which makes it even more difficult for us to put out the fire," Luković said.
On the ground with the firefighters-rescuers from Kraljevo are the workers of "Srbijašum" and the volunteer fire brigades from Studenica and Bogutovac.
Most problems in Pirot
The most problems were in the village of Slavinja in Pirot and in the village of Bračevci in the municipality of Dimitrovgrad. The fire has not been extinguished, but it can be said that the situation is much better compared to the previous days.
It's a big fight of firefighters from a dozen cities, workers of "Srbijašum", volunteer fire brigade, crew of communal companies with fire. Day and night, they put out the fire above the Pirot village of Slavinja and the village of Braćevci.
At one point during yesterday's day, a fire broke out above the village of Krupac.
Fires are under control in many locations
Sreten Savov, coordinator of the Headquarters for Emergency Situations in Pirot, said that many firefighting interventions are practically coming to an end.
"We can see that from the number of interventions that we have brought to an end the construction work on cutting through forest roads and creating a protective zone between the fire and populated areas, so that we are reducing the safety and risk of fire to a minimum," said Savov.
This is the second day that the helicopters are not operating. "The number of people participating in firefighting is reduced by a third, the number of construction machines on the ground is reduced, so we can say that everything is getting better and better," said Savov.
"Intervention will take place at the following locations: Krupac, Slavinja, Basara - these are the three locations that were critical these days. It now comes down to being on duty, constant monitoring at those locations and if some intervention is needed in those areas. We hope for good weather, rain, but with and without that we must be ready," concluded Savov.
When it comes to the area of Dimitrovgrad, the situation is much better. Yesterday, the most people were engaged above the village of Braćevci and, as they say, it bore fruit.
The fire that threatened the settlements of Žagubica and Suvi Do was localized and almost extinguished. The situation is now being monitored so that the fire does not rekindle under the influence of weather conditions.
Head of the Department for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia Luka Caušić said that the firefighting teams with helicopters constantly engaged on the mountains of Vidlič and Beljanica and that there are no endangered settlements.
Together with "Srbijašumen", the firefighters managed to protect valuable forest complexes on Stara planina, i.e. Vidlić.
