Bojan Pajtić, professor of the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad, gave an extremely precise description of the members of the SNS and their leader. Are SNS and Vučić even aware of what is happening, Danica Vučenić asked him in a live broadcast on N1, while an immense mass of people on the Danube quay paid their respects to the people who were killed by the greed of people in power? "If they were aware," replied Pajtić, "they would call for elections tomorrow."
"But Vučić is considered to be very intelligent," the journalist continued, "to understand the methodology of action... do you think he doesn't see this?"
"Just because someone is intelligent," replied Pajtic, "doesn't mean that he is a balanced personality. He is definitely not a balanced personality. We see many splits in just one of his performances, in every one of his performances."
"And what prevents them from seeing what is happening," asked Danica Vučenić.
"Greed and lust for power," Pajtic said. "Their nature. We are talking about people who, without power, do not even have a profession or have ever done anything outside of politics. These people are essentially insignificant for society. Suddenly they are simply presidents of the state, ministers, some kind of mayors. We are talking about people who are completely marginal in society, who have never contributed anything to the community. And now you are sending him back to drinking beer in front of a tobacconist, and going around capitals all over the world, using the best narcotics and enjoying a life that resembles the life of criminals, not to the life of the normal world."
Portrait of an Essene
Nothing more precise and accurate can be said about the Essenes. As such, the Essenes is a prime example of what Hannah Arendt called the "banality of evil." Evil doesn't have the face of a monster, it doesn't have a fat tail, horns, red skin and a trident in its hand. Evil hides in a seemingly ordinary, even below-average person who has not left any mark in life, but when he gets hold of a uniform (like Adolf Eichmann or Maximilian Aue), or enters the Party (like any Essenes), he becomes an arrogant bully, a reckless thug who will stop at nothing to maintain a position from which he can get rich without being punished for daily violations of the law because he entered the Party through his membership into the caste of untouchables.
It is impressive to what extent even the Essenes in the highest positions in the Party and in the highest positions in the kidnapped state do not possess qualities worthy of even short-term memory. Here, let's say, Lončar, Gašić, Glišić, Brnabić, Orlić, Selaković, and those characters who sit in the parliamentary benches... It is absolutely impossible to recognize a single characteristic that they do not have in common, nothing, then, except greed, recklessness, lack of shame, sincere hatred, barbarism...
But nothing. We are talking about people who mean something only if they move in a crowd, a pack, or a herd. As individuals, they are depersonalized, they do not exist, they are gone. Outside the group mechanism of hatred, they do not exist because they have left no trace of themselves. Not even slimy. As Pajtić said, they did not contribute anything to the community.
Unconsciousness
However, what is it that the unbalanced Vučić, even his cheerleaders, do not see and understand?
That the end of the golden era of robbery in which they participate with all their heart and resources is dangerously close. When Pajtić says that, if they were aware, they would have called elections, it does not mean that they are able to do anything for the benefit of the community from which they came - because for them the community does not exist, except as a reservoir of money from which they siphon as much as they want - but it means that the elections would reduce the level of violence organized by the Essenes, thereby weakening the pressure they themselves suffer. But they are so engrossed in robbery, they are so intoxicated with wealth that they don't even feel the pressure (would anyone in his right mind, while in the position of the mayor of Novi Sad, go to Greece to frolic in the midst of police torture in his city, which even the president of all citizens and the whole of Ćaciland resented).
How, otherwise, can we understand what the Essenes team from Mali Zvornik is doing, except as a profound ignorance of what is happening (and it is happening that they are losing ground under their feet and power)? They engage the state form and common resources in order to expand part of the land at the expense of Zvornik lake and build cottages there. So, in a country where a good part of the population doesn't even have a living, they, dead cold, build cottages with the involvement of public procurement, destroy nature and all that, of course, without permission, that is, against the law.
Okay, they are arrogant, intoxicated with power and omnipotence, but do they really believe that, after the liberation of the country, they will keep those cottages?
The answer is quite clear: yes, they believe. That is why they do not know that elections are their only solution, not to keep the cottages - they will not be able to do that - but to somehow get themselves out of the court processes that will inevitably follow them. All right, they're counting, like the Nazis, that someone will get through. And it will undoubtedly slip through. But a few will sneak out of the head of the regime if they manage to take off on their private plane, or take off on a yacht in the direction of the whole world, like Milosevic's family after October 5, or Assad a few months ago.
However, those who are destroying Zvorničko lake, they will not. They will remain, like the policemen who brutally beat their fellow citizens, to live next to the people they grossly wronged. That is why Pajtić says that the elections are their last refuge.
