About 120 dancers on the stage of the National Theater in Belgrade will mark the entry of the Ballet of this national theater into its 101st year tonight. Today is both Theater Day and the 155th birthday of this company, so that was the reason to celebrate the centenary of the Ballet tonight.
Tonight's parade of the Ballet Ensemble and Ballet School "Lujo Davicho" will be an exceptional artistic event, the theater announces. The ensemble and soloists of the National Theater will present themselves, and they will be joined by future generations who will one day play on this stage.
"Today's birthday of our theater is also important for all citizens who follow what our ensembles create on stage. Today we will hand out theater awards and present a recap of the events of the past few years," said Svetislav Goncić, director of the National Theatre.
He emphasized that this house "has an impressive number of 70 awards", and says that "they take care of this building, which is the cultural heritage of our country." We switched to ecological technologies in terms of heating the building, rejuvenated the ensemble, introduced young dramaturgical techniques and fresh voices in the Opera, which resulted in the rejuvenation of the audience of the National Theater".
Artistic director Ana Pavlović designed tonight's program with a concert performance of excerpts from the premiere restored ballets "Giselle", "Swan Lake", "Queen Margo" and "The Pirate" (Le Corsaire).
