The construction of the public garage on the plateau of the Temple of Saint Sava, in Skerlićeva Street in Belgrade, has begun, the one that caused two trees to be cut down in mid-July as an announcement that there will be more, which upset the citizens.
Now, when the digging has started, there are no citizens, but the construction company WD Concord West, which was often seen in Belgrade as a contractor, got this job after more than two years since the tender was announced, while all the necessary conditions were clarified.
The garage will have 357 parking spaces, and in its immediate vicinity are the Church of Saint Sava, the National Library and the Faculty of Dentistry. The deadline for the realization of this project is 700 calendar days, and the value of the investment is 1.4 billion dinars.
The construction of the underground garage is part of the reconstruction of the plateau in front of the Temple, whose investor is the Serbian Orthodox Church, with the help of the Government of Serbia.
As Beobuild writes, the garage in Skerlićeva Street will spread over three underground levels and a total area of almost 12.000 m2. Both vehicular and pedestrian access to the underground parking is possible from Skerlićeva Street. The project includes one passenger elevator.
A plateau will be formed on the roof of the garage, one part of which will be green, with a layer of soil suitable for planting tall and medium vegetation, and on the other part of the roof a flat, passable roof will be formed as a pedestrian plateau in front of the entrance to the National Library.
It is also planned to plant 42 new trees on the Vračar Plateau, in the form of already developed tall seedlings. The greenery within the plot will be equipped with an automatic watering system.
