The authorities in Pristina today banned the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), Patriarch Porfiri and the seven bishops who were accompanying him, from entering Kosovo, in order to attend the session of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Patriarchate of Pec tomorrow, announced the Office of the Government of Serbia for Kosovo and Metohija, and was confirmed by the Serbian Orthodox Church.
The decision to ban the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Porfirij and the bishops, from coming to the Patriarchate of Pec is unreasonable and unacceptable, and at the same time it is an accurate picture of the position of the Serbian Church and the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, announced the Information Service of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
According to reports, the patriarch was supposed to cross the Merdare administrative crossing today at 13.30:XNUMX p.m., but at the moment when he was close to the crossing, a ban arrived from Pristina stating that the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church cannot enter the territory of Kosovo.
The director of the Office, Petar Petković, stated that the ban arrived 13 minutes before the announced visit, which particularly indicates the intention of Kosovo Prime Minister Aljbin Kurti to "expose the Serbian patriarch to additional harassment and extortion, to spend more than seven hours on the road".
The Patriarch appealed to all who have an influence on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija to do what they can to stop the flagrant violation of human rights of the Serbian people, including the right to freedom of movement of the Serbian Patriarch, bishops and clergy. Patriarch Porfirije will not leave his people in Kosovo and Metohija and will do everything possible to meet with them and pray together with them to God as soon as possible, according to the announcement.
As always until now, the liaison officer of Belgrade, in accordance with all valid agreements and procedures, sent an announcement about the plans of the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Patriarchate of Pec, said Petković and added that, unilaterally and contrary to all agreements, Kurti denied the patriarch the opportunity to attend on the first day of the Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church and be a support and support for the faithful Serbian people who eagerly awaited it
Petković said that the patriarch always called for peace and coexistence of Serbs and Albanians in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija with his messages, gentle words and gestures, not dividing, but uniting people with the power of his indisputable authority, always spreading Christian messages of love and faith in every place and he never sinned in any place, either in word or deed, about those eternal principles.
"And on this example, today we are witnessing the intention of Pristina and Aljbin Kurti to expel all Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija and erase the traces of the centuries-old existence of the Serbian people and the Serbian Church in these areas," said Petković and pointed out that the oppression of a nation and its religious rights and freedom did not bring anyone good.
