Postage stamps made on the occasion of the promotion of the EXPO 2027 project were presented today in the PTT Museum, and they are based on the reprint of the issue published by the then Association of Yugoslav PTTs on the occasion of the international exhibition EXPO 1967 in Canada.
Stamps are another way of promoting this project, for which the state will allocate 17,8 billion euros over the next three years, at least that's what Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said. Within the program "Leap into the future - EXPO 2027". This program was announced by Vučić in January of this year, and it includes, the president claims, raising the standard of living of citizens, projects in the fields of science and technology, education, infrastructure development, energy, ecology, agriculture, health, tourism, as well as programs in other areas. of national importance.
Although there was no information on how much each of the individual projects will cost taxpayers, the party-state promotion of EXPO did not stop from the moment it was announced that Serbia would host this exhibition in 2027.
Postage stamps and companies
Last came the stamps, on which the logo of the exhibition was highlighted, and the parallel between 1967 and 2027 underlines "Serbia's historical continuity in striving to be a leader in innovation in the region".
As stated by the Minister of Finance, Siniša Mali, regular stamps as a means of payment for postal services will be found on more than one million shipments sent abroad from Serbia on an annual basis and on the same amount in domestic postal traffic.
In order to ensure that the stamps are continuously in use in the next three years, instead of nominal values expressed in dinars, letter designations for postal traffic services are being introduced. The letters that indicate the value of the stamps are, symbolically: E, X, P, O, B, G.
Before presenting the brands, the Government of Serbia established companies that will be involved in the EXPO. In January of this year, the government established seven companies related to the EXPO 2027 project, one of which will build a sports complex for water sports in Surčin, and the other six will be in charge of facilities for accommodation of students and visitors of this exhibition. These companies will be managed by the Construction Directorate of Serbia, and will be financed from the state treasury and loans.
Before the companies founded in January, the company "Expo 2027" was formed in November, which will practically manage the entire implementation of the exhibition. Unlike the newly established companies, this one is headed by Dušan Borovčanin, who is also the director of the Congress Bureau of the Tourist Organization of Serbia.
The role of the Belgrade Tower
For the purposes of the exhibition, hotels will be built, as many as 130, as announced by the state leadership. Of course, there is also the long-awaited and announced National Stadium, as well as the city railway station.
"This part of Belgrade, next to Makiško polje where the first metro line is being built, will become the largest construction site in this part of Europe. It used to be Belgrade on the water, which is slowly being completed," Mali told reporters recently during the presentation of the plan for the construction of the complex in Surčin.
The Belgrade Tower, which is located in the Belgrade on the Water complex, is one of the main "bulletin boards" of SNS in the promotion of the exhibition. When Serbia became the host of the specialized EXPO in June of last year, the word "victory" was lit up on the Belgrade Tower, followed by the Serbian tricolor.
"Serbia has won the selection for EXPO 2027", it was written on the tower of Belgrade on the water.
The promotional campaign is just heating up. In addition to numerous hotels, stadiums, railways and postage stamps, the Government of Serbia still has a little more than three years to promote a project worth several billion euros, the crown of the presidential mandate of Aleksandar Vučić - as he himself calls it.
