The President of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP), Dragan Đilas, said after today's unsuccessful attempt to constitute the Assembly of Belgrade that the opposition should come to the new Belgrade elections in the form of an alliance of all those who are in favor of change, including prominent public figures, on the condition that the implementation of ODIHR's recommendations begins, especially when it comes to the voter list.
"That alliance would be made up of all the parties that are part of the coalition Serbia against violence and the NADA coalition, but also all other parties that we are all sure are in opposition to this regime," Đilas said in a written statement, SSP announced.
Within that alliance, as he stated, a special place should be occupied by distinguished public figures whose involvement would be in accordance with what is acceptable to those people who are not involved in politics, but are fighting for a better Serbia.
According to Đilas, in that way, on election day, they would actually have a referendum where "all Belgraders, but only Belgraders, would say whether or not they are in favor of Šapić, Vučić, Brnabić continuing to govern their city."
Obradović: A special day for all Belgraders
Vladimir Obradović, candidate for mayor of Belgrade from the SPN list, said that he is today is a special day for all Belgraders and for him personally, when after 10 years the SNS is no longer able to form a government in Belgrade.
"Despite the enormous theft, the citizens told them that they don't want them anymore." Personally, I was honored to be a candidate for mayor of the Serbia Against Violence list, for which 325.000 citizens voted. "Thank you to them, but also to everyone who voted that SNS no longer destroys this city," he said.
The elections will be repeated, the conditions will be changed and "Belgrade will get a new chance to have the government it deserves," he added.
"Ahead of us is a time that requires even greater unity when we all together must continue this change to the end," he concluded.
Pavlović: The people of Belgrade do not want Vučić
Member of the National Movement of Serbia Miloš Pavlović said that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić suffered defeat for the first time after ten years in Belgrade.
"Despite vote theft and engineering, the Serbian Progressive Party cannot form a government." The people of Belgrade have shown that they do not want Vučić, nor the Serbian Progressive Party, but they want changes," Pavlavić said in the hall of the Belgrade Assembly.
He said that "we are entering a period when it is necessary to find out who gave the order to steal the electoral will of the citizens of Belgrade", and that the capital Belgrade is today the center of crime, corruption and money laundering.
Veselinović: Correction of irregularities
Dobrica Veselinović said that they have a fight to correct the irregularities.
"We have to solve the situation in the media, REM is not doing its job. We have to assign a fifth frequency, stop the functionary campaign, prevent pressure on the voters. This is a battle that determines the future of our society," he said.
The opposition has yet to decide on the way to go to the elections and the candidates, he added.
"The date cannot fall in the middle of a holiday and we bid with that," he pointed out.
Dveri: In the repeated elections, no opposition vote must remain below the threshold
The Belgrade committee "Dveri" assessed that the repeated elections in Belgrade are the most serious chance for the beginning of the end of the regime of Aleksandar Vučić and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and that therefore no opposition vote must remain below the threshold.
"If the demands of the ODIHR are met, which is essential for the regularity of elections, if mass migration of voters to Belgrade is prevented, and after that the election results are defended, there is no doubt that the corrupt SNS regime in Belgrade will fall." Another very important thing for victory in the Belgrade elections is for all opposition parties to leave their ideological differences and vanity aside and to work together to ensure that no opposition vote is wasted," they stated in the announcement.
They believe that the victory of the opposition in Belgrade could trigger a domino effect in other cities before the local elections, and in many of them, such as Novi Sad, Niš, Čačak, or Belgrade municipalities, the opposition, according to Dveri, has a great chance of victory.
