The Freedom and Justice Party (SSP) accused the President of Serbia on Sunday Aleksandar Vučić that, taking over all operational orders in the police, "in desperation that several hundred thousand people came to protest", he resorted to using sound cannons, weapons whose use against civilians is strictly prohibited.
"Never in the history of Serbia has it been ruled by such an evil and unscrupulous man, ready to use prohibited weapons against his people, against the youth who organized the protest in Belgrade," the SSP said in a statement.
According to the SSP, Vučić's "hatred towards the people of Serbia who do not support him has reached its peak and he does not hesitate to endanger the lives of all the people who have clearly told him that they no longer want his crime, corruption and dictatorship".
"He did everything to reduce the number of people who will come to the rally." For weeks he announced violence, raids on institutions, ordered the police to allow armed criminals to gather and pretend not to see it. Suspended rail and intercity bus traffic," the SSP stated.
According to the belief of that opposition party, Vučić's attempt to "suppress the will of the people by force" will not succeed.
"Hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Belgrade and thus clearly showed that this government does not have a shred of legitimacy." Desperate because of the huge number of people and with the intention to further intimidate people and prevent them from gathering again in the following period, he organized incidents when the protest was already over. And used a sound cannon, risking casualties. "Aleksandar Vučić tried to suppress the will of the people with violence, but he will not succeed," SSP assessed.
Criminal charges
On Sunday, the Movement for the Reconstruction of the Kingdom of Serbia (POKS) submitted a criminal complaint to the High Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade against unknown persons from the security structures who used LRAD sonic weapons against citizens, which the state, as stated by the opposition party, acquired three years ago.
"The crime against our own people happened last night, when people from the security structures used sound weapons aimed at bare-handed citizens who were peacefully protesting, during a fifteen-minute silence," said POKS president and MP Vojislav Mihailović.
Mihailović stated that the video "clearly shows everything and it will be evidence against the suspects, that the person responsible used a weapon that is not allowed in Serbia and is prohibited in many countries because it can leave permanent consequences for people's health, primarily for the sense of hearing."
"This was done on a whim, when the security forces had already bought these weapons, to see how it works on a concrete example. There is no other reason why it was used than for the purpose of a military exercise in which the citizens were 'guinea pigs'. This is the best possible example of the government's attitude towards citizens," Mihailović assessed, POKS announced.
POKS did not expect a confession from state officials, but expects a reaction from the prosecution.
"We will not calm down and we will not give up until those responsible are brought to justice, because this is an unprecedented crime against our own citizens." We did not even expect state officials to admit that they ordered the use of these weapons, but we expect a reaction from the prosecution, because if not
if they do their job, they will be accomplices who will answer in the time of freedom that will soon come," Mihailović stressed.
DS: The use of the sound cannon must not go unpunished
On Sunday, the Democratic Party (DS) called on all citizens who were attacked with a sound cannon during the protest on March 15 in Belgrade to contact it in order to help in the criminal reporting of that illegal act.
"The use of a sound cannon, a prohibited means that can cause serious health damage, is a serious form of abuse of force and must not go unpunished." Filing of mass reports is crucial for determining the responsibility of those who ordered and carried out this attack on citizens," the DS announced.
The Democratic Party also announced that it will provide legal support and assistance to anyone who wants to report that repressive act.
"Get in touch with us - together we will ensure that justice is served," DS said in a statement.
Tadić: The regime monstrously stopped honoring the dead
The Social Democratic Party (SDS) announced on Sunday that "the mysterious attack on citizens who were peacefully and in complete silence honoring those who died in the tragedy in Novi Sad has indisputable characteristics of an attack with a sound cannon", which is why it demands that the authorities immediately inform the public which weapon was used against the citizens last night.
The Social Democrats demand that responsibility be immediately established in the entire chain of command for the illegal attack on citizens without any reason or legal basis.
SDS president Boris Tadić said that the regime monstrously interrupted the honoring of those who died in one tragedy with an attack that could have caused another tragedy, SDS announced.
"Only the composure of the citizens prevented the death in the stampede that was initiated by that attack." "During today, I will use all my contacts to inform the international community about this terrible attack on peaceful citizens," added Tadić.
Tadić stated that the attack threatened people's lives, their safety and health, as well as public safety.
"This is a serious criminal offense for which everyone who participated in it must be held accountable. This must be pushed to the end," underlined Tadić.
SDS calls on all citizens who were exposed to the effect of that impact to go to the doctor today, because studies show that the effect of the sound cannon causes permanent health consequences.
Parandilović: Dacic should resign
President of the New Face of Serbia (NLS) and MP Miloš Parandilović announced today that the Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic would have to resign because of the sound cannon attack on peaceful students and demonstrators during the silence with which they paid respect to the victims under the canopy in Novi Sad.
"By using a sound cannon, the regime committed an act of state terrorism against its own people." According to command responsibility, Ivica Dacic, as Minister of Police, would have to resign first, so let him explain before the prosecution whether he ordered the use of the sound cannon or Vučić ordered it without his knowledge," said Parandilović.
Parandilović also asked what was next - the use of chemical weapons or the hunting of rebel residents' houses, NLS announced.
The new face of Serbia asks the competent institutions to answer whether the sound cannon was acquired in 2022, who acquired it and in what quantity; whether the MUP confirms the use of a sound cannon at the protests that took place on March 15; who ordered its use and what weapon was used against peaceful citizens, if the president claims that it is not a sound cannon.
