Spokesperson for the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) Olivera Zekić she stated that REM has nothing to do with Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) or Radio-television of Vojvodina, adding that he hopes that the parliament will not succumb to pressure and announce a new competition for the REM Council, but will bring the existing election process to an end.
"We work according to the Law on Electronic Media, and RTS and RTV work according to a special Law on Public Services," said Zekić on the "Hit Tweet" show on Pink TV, indicating that public services are under the supervision of regulators, but they are not given or revoked their license to operate.
Zekić reminded that the "two requests" of the students were to announce a new competition for the REM Council or to shut down RTS, noting that they were "not competent" to request the announcement of a new competition.
"I hope that the Parliament will not succumb to the insane pressure of the students," said Zekić and pointed out that the Parliament will not announce a new competition, but will bring the old one to an end by voting for the remaining candidates.
According to Zekić, it is interesting that during the six days of the blockade of RTS, Dragan Bujošević, the general director of the public service, is nowhere to be announced, nor is he on the warrants published by the students blocking the faculties, nor is Olivera Kovačević.
Zekić claims that RTS is a "media Pentagon", which is technically equipped to broadcast programs from wherever it wants.
"The only request is, in fact, that Aleksandar Vučić step down from power, but by no means verbalize him, they are raining around Kragujevac," she pointed out.
