Trial for attack on students Faculty of Dramatic Arts (FDU) On November 22 last year, it was adjourned today before The Higher Court in Belgrade, because one of the accused reached an agreement with the prosecution on the recognition of the criminal act, and negotiations are ongoing with the other two accused.
At the beginning of the trial, it was announced that the defendant, Milena Aleksić, reached an agreement with the prosecution on Monday to plead guilty, after which the lawyers of Milija Koldžić and Ivan Stanišić announced that they were also in negotiations with the prosecution.
The defendants' lawyers therefore requested that the trial be postponed, which the other side agreed to, so a new hearing was scheduled for May 19.
The lawyer of the injured parties did not receive information about the confession of the criminal act
However, the injured party's lawyer, Kruna Savović, resented the fact that she did not receive information about the admission of the criminal offense, although, as she says, she had been in communication with the prosecutor before, but also before the trial itself, and that she was dissociating herself from the actions of the prosecutor.
Kruna Savović pointed out that on March 11, the Appellate Public Prosecutor's Office issued a mandatory instruction ordering the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office to conduct a detailed analysis of the footage of the "disputed event" submitted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and FDU Dean Miloš Pavlović in order to identify all participants in the incident.
According to her, this could eventually lead to the requalification of the criminal offense, for which, as she says, neither the current court nor the prosecutor would be competent.
In addition, the instructions ordered the hearing of two witnesses.
The public prosecutor indicated that he is obliged to act according to that instruction, but that the decision about it was made in the process of dismissing the criminal charges in the case of Koldžić and Stanisić, when it was decided to initiate misdemeanor proceedings against them.
The prosecutor said that he has reviewed the recordings several times and that, based on the case file, he does not see that there could be charges for another criminal offense, adding that, if it is necessary to charge someone else, he will expand the indictment or file a new one.
Due to great interest, the trial was moved to a larger hall
The beginning of the trial, which was moved to a larger hall due to great interest, was also attended by representatives of students in the blockade of FDU and some of their professors, who previously gathered in front of the Palace of Justice, supported by citizens.
In the indictment, the prosecution proposed to the court that the three defendants be found guilty of the criminal offense of "violent behavior at a sports event or public gathering", which they committed on November 22, 2024, during the blockade of the road in the Boulevard of the Arts, in front of the FDU.
Students then paid their respects to the victims of the fall of the canopy at the Railway Station in Novi Sad.
The Prosecution proposed that the defendants be given conditional sentences of one year in prison each with a three-year probationary period, as well as fines in the amount of RSD 100.000 each.
