The non-governmental organization Earshot concluded on the basis of the sound recordings made on March 15 in Belgrade in Kralja Milana street that the sound impact coincides with the vortex cannon and that they show that the source of the sound was located at least 700 meters from the place where it was recorded.
"Vreme" also wrote about the vortex cannon in its investigation of what happened on March 15 at 19.11:XNUMX p.m. in Ulica Kralja Milana.
Activists in Serbia contacted this international non-governmental organization on March 16 and asked to investigate whether the authorities in Serbia used sonic weapons on protesters who are in silently paid tribute to the victims of the collapse of the railway station canopy in Novi Sad.
Irshot is the world's first non-profit organization that conducts audio research for human rights and environmental protection.
Irshott obtained 12 videos documenting moments in which weapons were allegedly used against protesters. Four of those videos contain sound consistent with the noise produced by the Vortex Ring Gun or Vortex Cannon.
The weapon ejects air from its cylinder at speeds of 185 miles per hour (300 kilometers per hour), and its ejection produces a howling noise likened to a jet engine, along with vortex rings that can be ionized.
This could create electromagnetic interference with devices such as hearing aids, according to reports from witnesses at the protest.
If it is a vortex cannon, the attached photos were taken at least 700 meters from its source. At that distance the burning of weapons is no longer heard; only the distinct hiss of a pressure wave can be heard moving away from the firing point towards the crowd, causing mass panic.
As Irshott wants to investigate the incident further, he is asking anyone who has video footage of the specific audio recorded on March 15 to contact them.
