Sindikat judicial authorities and employees of judicial bodies on Wednesday, March 26 they are open all day again strike, because the requirements for improving the financial position of employees in the judiciary have still not been met.
The previous one-day protest was held on March 18, and the Judiciary Union points out that in the meantime employees in the judiciary were threatened with forfeiture of their wages for the time spent on strike, and that the Ministry of Justice did not show even the slightest willingness to discuss finding a compromise solution regarding the demands.
The purpose of the legal norm that regulates the forfeiture of the right to wages during a strike is to force employees to find a compromise solution, while for the employer, the equivalent is the damage that the business suffers due to the suspension of work, and the Trade Union believes that it is completely illegitimate to deprive employees of wages before the start of the negotiation process.
The union pointed out that the Government of Serbia is in a technical mandate, but that it and its members can sign the protocol formulated by the demands.
That's why the new decision on the all-day strike postponed the deadline for fulfilling the demand, which now reads: "within 15 days from the constitution of the new government", it was stated in the announcement.
Union demands
It is requested to sign a protocol on increasing the salary base for judges, public prosecutors and other employees in judicial bodies, in the amount of at least 20 percent.
It is also required to pay compensation for food expenses during work, in the amount of at least 15.000 dinars per month. The union of judicial authorities is also demanding the payment of vacation pay, in the amount of at least 85.000 dinars per year, starting with the salary for April 2025.
The employees will be in their workplaces during the strike, and the proposal of the Syndicate of the Judiciary is to act in cases related to deprivation of liberty, which are conducted against minor perpetrators of criminal acts and due to domestic violence, as well as in proceedings in which a proposal for determining a temporary measure has been highlighted.
It should also be handled in cases in which the deadline expressly prescribed by the law would expire and within which certain rights can be acquired or a right is lost after the expiration of the deadline.
The union also reminds that the strike requests were sent to the Ministry of Justice on February 5.
