Citizens protested in front of the Novi Sad court near Spence because they Novi Sad activists still in custody. The request of the gathering is that the detainees be placed under house arrest with a nanowire, because the gathered believe that this way would also fulfill the explanation prosecutor's office that they are detained due to fear that they will repeat the crime.
The Free Citizens' Movement (PSG), Novi Sad Citizens' Assemblies and students called for the protest, and several hundred citizens gathered.
First, they gathered in the campus, and then they reached the court on foot along Tsar Lazar Boulevard, Stražilovska and Sutjeska.
There were police in the courthouse in equipment for breaking up demonstrations.
The crowd chanted "Freedom for humans, prison for non-humans".
It was said at the meeting that the same prosecutor who requested the release of former minister Goran Vesić, who is working on the carport case, requested the extension of detention.
"Do we really believe that he will do the right thing and that those responsible for the death of 16 people will end up in prison? The judge who is trying this case is the same one who said that the students should be beaten to stop the students. What is essential is that they keep them in custody to keep us silent, to pressure the activists to force a confession because they have no evidence and they know the case will fall.", it was said at the rally.
"They are detained based on the possibility of repeating the crime. Repetition of cases exists to prevent cases like femicide, not to detain activists. If they are afraid, why don't they give them a stun gun - because they want to make them confess to a crime they didn't commit and we know they won't. We tell the judges and prosecutors - you will all be in prison," it added.
It was stated that the defenders have an extremely short deadline, because professor Marija Vasić, who went on a hunger and thirst strike, refused any help.
"We will not allow anything to happen to Maria," added those gathered.
At 11.52:16 a.m., XNUMX minutes of silence began for the victims of the falling canopy.
Citizens are invited to gather in front of the court tomorrow. Tomorrow's meeting is scheduled for 7 o'clock.
Six activists of PSG and Stav have been detained in Klisa for two months, and yesterday that measure was extended for another month. They, along with six other activists who are abroad and for whom a warrant has been issued, are accused of preparing an act against the constitutional order and security of Serbia.
Professor Marija Vasić started a hunger and thirst strike.
The Movement of Free Citizens also announced that, if the decision on detention is not changed, they will organize a blockade of the court on Thursday.
