Choirs of citizens of Bežanijska kosa, Zemun and Novi Belgrade gathered today in front of the municipality of Novi Beograd and started a protest walk to building of Radio-television of Serbia in Takovska Street, where they plan to join the students and support them in blocking the public service before the daily at 19:30.
At the head of the column are drummers and a banner with the message "RTS is in the REM phase", and behind the national flag and messages from civil assemblies.
At the intersection near the Ušće Shopping Center, they paid their respects with a 16-minute silence for the 16 who died in the fall of the canopy at the Novi Sad railway station on November 1 last year, and then headed towards the Branko Bridge.
On Zeleni venc, a lady prepared cookies for her fellow citizens.
"When we saw messages on television that students expect us not to pat them on the back, but to stand side by side with them, we decided that we have to organize ourselves like this. This is neither the first nor the last action, but it's nice that we have united the west side of Belgrade and now we can try to deal with some local problems besides, of course, the protest," Bojan Jovičić, a resident of Novobeograd, told N1.
