Members of the MUP, UKP, Department for the fight against corruption, are on the order of the Special Department for Suppression corruption of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Nis arrested the president of the municipality of Žitorad, Ivan Stanojević, and five other persons, announced the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It is suspected that they damaged the municipal budget by around three and a half million dinars.
Due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of abuse of office in co-perpetration, IS (1984) the president of the Municipality of Žitarođa, MS (1986) the head of the municipal administration of the Municipality of Žitorađa, ZS (1960), SP (1964) and RR (1968) officials in the municipal administration of the Municipality of Žitorađa and members of the commission for the exchange of immovable property of the Municipality of Žitorađa were arrested, while DM (1977), the attorney general of the municipality, is suspected of the criminal offense of unscrupulous work in the service, it is stated in the statement.
As suspected, I.S., M.S., Z.S., SP and RR in the period from September 6, 2024 to December 10, 2024, participated in the procedure of acquiring public property for the Municipality of Žitorađa, through the exchange of real estate with a natural person from Niš, in which they did not apply assessments of the market value of real estate from the competent state authority of the Tax Administration, as determined by the decision of the Žitorađa Municipality Assembly, but a finding and opinion expert who determined the value of real estate in significantly lower amounts than the Tax Administration's assessment.
Also, as is suspected, on November 12, 2024, the DM gave a positive opinion on the real estate exchange procedure conducted in this way, although based on the documentation it had, it could be seen that the real estate exchange procedure was not carried out under market conditions, which resulted in a financial benefit in the amount of 3.440.740 dinars to a natural person from Nis, and caused damage to the Municipality of Žitorađa in the amount of 3.512.740 dinars.
Suspects IS and MS were detained for up to 48 hours and they will be brought to the competent prosecutor's office with a criminal complaint, while Z. S, S. P, RR and D. M will be brought to the competent prosecutor's office with a criminal complaint.
This is Ivan Stanojević's third mandate as the mayor of the municipality in the place where Ivica Dačić grew up, and previously he was the deputy mayor of the municipality.
He is a member of the Socialist Party of Serbia, and he is also known for being one of the officials from this municipality who lavishly spent money from the municipal budget on pub services, writes N1.
According to the contracts that were signed earlier, 999.999 dinars were provided for the representation of the president of the municipality, the president of the Assembly and the Municipal Administration, a total of less than 3 million dinars or about 25.000 euros.
