Two months after the arrest, the detention of the former mayor of Niš, Dragana Sotirovski, was extended for another 30 days.
The owners of most of the shops in Njegoševa Street in Vračar did not respond to the students' call for a "general strike". It's just that the beast empties
Walking down Njegoševa street in Belgrade, Vračar, on Friday around 13 pm, at first glance it would seem that nothing special is happening in the city: cafes and restaurants are open, grocers are open, wineries are open, hairdressers are open, pharmacies are open. …
At second glance, however – not everything works. Some outlets are closed without any explanation as to why, and one only says "today, Friday, 24.01, the outlet is closed". Well, whoever understands, understood.
And everything is clear to everyone, who are the owners in conjunction with the progressive government, or are afraid of being offended, and who are not and are not afraid of anything, because just a kilometer away, tens of thousands of students are expressing their displeasure about autocracy, partocracy, nepotism, until the core of the corrupt state in which they live.
"At least now I know where I won't drink coffee in the future," says a lady who lives in the neighborhood. Think of coffee shops that work.
And an elderly gentleman who took his dog out to the question about the "general strike" in Njegoševa says: "I'm changing the place where I buy ice cream, I can't believe that my people are working today."
Fifty meters away, there are two ice cream parlors with excellent ice cream - one is on strike, the other is not.
In the circle of threats
These bars, which are open on January 24, 2025, will not be happy, however. Most of the beasts are empty, in some there is literally no living soul. Supermarkets are also empty, life has died down in the whole street.
Some of the waiters we talked to say that their bosses threatened them with having to work, and that some of the owners of the premises were threatened with inspections by the previous city government if they dared to stop working, so the result of that round of threats is that they are open.
And as for Vučić and his "characters and characters", they cannot see them with their eyes. But they can't even afford to get fired.
Until next time.
