At the session of the Čačak City Assembly, after much noise, shouting, verbal and physical confrontations, the Serbian Progressive Party finished its work. No matter how much they claimed that the procedures and laws were not respected and that the local elections on June 2 were stolen, the opposition in Čača, just like in Niš, could not prevent the inevitable: that the list bearing the name of Aleksandar Vučić declares victory and forms the government. Because Vučić must not lose.
Thus, with the exception of local self-governments where the majority of national minorities live, the municipality of Medijana in Niš remains the only stain on the synthetic jambolia of the absolute progressive government.
Igor Trifunović from the coalition gathered around the SNS was elected as the President of the Čačak City Assembly. He held that position in the previous two mandates. Rajko Baralić, also from Vučić's local coalition, was elected deputy president of the city assembly.
From argument to fight
The constituent session of the Čačak City Assembly was interrupted at the request of the chairman, the oldest councilor Vitomir Ćalović, who left the session, but the discussion continued despite his demonstrative act.
The culmination of the councilor's disagreement was a fight.
Since the chairperson of the session refused to continue the session according to the rules of procedure, the next oldest member of the council continued the chairing, so it moved on. The majority of councilors from the opposition lists left the session before voting on the new/old city leadership.
In the local elections, the coalition around SNS won 40 council seats, and the Russian party (there are no Russians only in Nis) joined the coalition with one council seat.
Opposition lists won 34 council seats. The City Assembly in Čačak has 75 councilors.
