The Union of Monarchists condemned the government's decision to completely cancel the funds for the maintenance of the palace complex in Dedinje in the 2026 budget, judging that it was "revenge of the regime Aleksandar Vučić" according to Philip Karađorđević.
In the statement of that political organization, it is stated that the decision followed the recent public statement of Karađorđević, in which he called for the removal of the tent settlement "Cacileland", as well as the restoration of Pionirski Park to its original state from the time of the Kingdom of Serbia, Nova portal reports.
Dušan Radosavljević, co-president of the Monarchists and deputy of the NADA coalition, said that for the first time in history, funding for the maintenance of the Palace complex, which has the status of a cultural asset of exceptional importance for Serbia.
Radosavljević also pointed out that it is a "shame for the state" that the Karađorđević family still lives as tenants in their ancestral home, stating that they are exempt from the restitution process and that the property created by the generations of this dynasty, from Karađorđe to King Peter and Alexander, has not been returned to them.
He added that the state, until it returns the property to Karađorđević, is obliged to maintain the Palace complex, especially considering its cultural and historical importance.
The monarchists reminded that 67 million dinars were allocated from the budget for the maintenance of the palace complex on Dedinje in 2024, 77 million in 2025, while it is planned that "not a single dinar" will be allocated for this purpose in 2026.
