Students from informal groups STAV today around 15.15:XNUMX p.m. they blocked the building of the Rectorate of the University in Novi Sad, in order to block the elections for the student parliament that were announced for tomorrow in that building, transmissions H1.
They are blocking the elections for the Student Parliament for the fourth time, because of unfair conditions and because they believe that there are no elections when there is only one candidate.
Before breaking into the Rectorate building, journalism student Mila Pajić said at the beginning that the reason for the forum was to explain what is irregular and unfair that is happening at their faculty.
"They take away our honor, take our money for stupid things, don't answer our emails and run away from us in the hallway. Poets also slap us, the faculty does not react. The new decision of the parliament announces a new election day tomorrow at the Rectorate, with security. Who will you bring us? Beaters? According to Article 5 of their regulations, elections must be held at the faculty. They are violating the rulebook that they passed," she said.
She added that "the rector must not interfere in the work of the student parliament", and that "he will not give up".
"We want another list at the university"
She pointed out that they want a second list at the university, because "the point of everything is to be able to choose".
"Are we going to leave this country and it will remain at the mercy of party officials." Are we going to allow that to happen?", she asked, before the blockade of the Rectorate and the faculty began.
The only candidate in these elections, the Union of Students, which has been at the head of the student parliament for years, announced new elections for tomorrow, in the Rector's building of the University of Novi Sad, despite the fact that the Rulebook stipulates that the elections must be held in the faculty building.
Students ran into the Rectorate building
STAV members have announced a forum for today at 15 p.m. where they will inform students about the unfair conditions for the student parliament - however, after 10 minutes from the start of the announced forum - the students ran into the building and do not plan to leave it until the end of tomorrow's election day .
For now, the students are peacefully spending time inside the building, and the security guard has called the police.
Tomorrow's elections for the Student Parliament of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad are the second repeated round of these elections. So far, students in front of the STAV group have blocked all held elections due to unfair conditions, and there have been several incidents in previous elections.
