The Movement Ne davimo Beograd (NDB) today called on the Government of Serbia to adopt two studies related to the protection of the Kotež-Neimar complex and Krunska Street in order to prevent the disappearance of architectural heritage.
Also, the NDB asks the Municipality of Vračar to publish the permit for the demolition of the villa at Janko Veselinovića 10 and to explain on the basis of which the General Regulation Plan was violated.
They point out that the villa was demolished "with the cooperation of investors, the Government of Serbia and the municipal authorities", and that as an object of cultural and historical importance it was "in the process of protection".
They pointed out that "The government is deliberately delaying the adoption of the protection study for the Kotež-Neimar and Krunska Street units, the municipal government is issuing demolition permits contrary to urban plans, and eligible investors are demolishing cultural and historical buildings and building multi-story buildings in their place."
They remind that "the villa was in the protection procedure within the framework of the Kotež-Neimar complex protection study and was valorized as an object of special value." Such valorization implies that no works may be carried out on the building without the consent of the Institute for the Protection of Monuments".
The general regulation plan foresees protection for all objects whose protection studies are in the adoption procedure, which is the case with the Kotež-Neimar study.
However, the Municipality of Vračar issued a demolition permit. The NDB assesses that this is a violation of the General Regulation Plan. As they say in the statement, "the demolition permit was not publicly announced, and the deadline for appeals was running, so no one could even appeal." The works were carried out without a building board".
According to their claims, the generator of all the problems with the disappearance of cultural heritage in front of arrogant investors is the Government of Serbia, which for more than a year does not want to adopt the long-prepared study on the protection of the Kotež-Neimar complex, just as it has not adopted the study on the protection of Krunska Street for a year and a half . Both studies are just waiting to be put on the agenda of the Government, but that is not happening at all.
