He welcomed that too: the eternal deputy mayor and some others became the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure. That's what he was for, as "Vreme" wrote in the text Goran Vesić against Belgrade, qualified confused construction in Belgrade, breaking deadlines and budgets, questionable quality of construction works under his baton.
The commander of Belgrade under the front-line progressive mayors did not pay much attention to the needs of the citizens of Belgrade, his taste is reflected in the New Year's lights, the singing fountain, that unfortunate monument to Stefan Nemanja, that glass thing on Cvetni trg or the erased space that Trg republike was turned into, but that's why loyally assigned jobs to whoever he was told and apparently took good care to ensure that the money flow did not overtake the public.
Now he has advanced to the management of much bigger money and far bigger projects than the reconstruction of 27 Marta, Kraljica Marija, George Washington and Dušanova streets, which broke all the deadlines and became an example of architectural genius, the multiple digging of Shkadarlija for unknown reasons, the planning of the Kalemegdan gondolas or the relocation of the tram bridge over the Sava so as not to disturb the residents of Belgrade on the water.
Under Đinđić, Živković, Tadić
A native of Kruševlja, a lawyer by profession, Goran Vesić was a journalist in the party newsletter of the Democratic Party in the 1990s. Democracy, head of Zoran Đinđić's cabinet, then a member of the Belgrade City Assembly, and after the DOS came to power, a member of the Serbian Parliament, head of the Administrative Committee, adviser to Zoran Živković when he was the federal minister of the interior, then in 2003/2004. adviser to Defense Minister Boris Tadić, which is a role that did not please both of them because Vesić was allegedly sent there by the party to control Tadić and then the bad blood between the two flared up, "Vreme" wrote in the text Čovek which će srušiti Vučića.
The hero of that text then performs exclusively local political functions: he is a member of the Vračar Municipal Assembly, the president of the Board of Directors of JP "Ada Cig anlija", a member of the Presidency of the Belgrade Basketball Association, so that in 2008/2009. completely withdrawn from the public eye. Vesić turned to the private Marletin business in Serbia and the region.
Deputy Mayor
So Vesić started to compare Vučić with Đinđić according to the tabloids and to prepare the ground for the transfer, which officially took place in September 2013, when councilors of SNS, SPS-PUPS and DSS voted no confidence in Mayor Dragan Đilas, and he became "Vreme" wrote the secretary of the "Temporary Organ" headed by Sinisa Mali.
In March 2014, extraordinary Belgrade elections were held, together with extraordinary parliamentary elections, in which Vesić was a councilor candidate from the SNS list and after which he became the city manager and assistant to the mayor Sinisa Malog.
In that place, he changed mayors, and he crowned himself with the already described glory and qualified for minister, and maybe his videos on TikTok contributed to that, which made his enemies and friends happy, both old and young, who knows. Vesić was certainly underestimated by those who mocked him for trying so desperately to stay in the game of power.
While his growing unpopularity in Belgrade began to be harmful to the SNS, the yellow flyer Vesić advanced in the party's structures: he became a member of the Main Board in 2016, and the Presidency in 2017.
He quickly learned how to get ahead in the party, and thus in the state structures: credible enthusiasm in defending the character and deeds of Aleksandar Vučić, the skill of redirecting diverted money and keeping one's mouth shut are crucial.
Vesić is most proud, however, as he says, of his books about Belgrade 1 and 2. Yes, there is also a second part.
