The city election commission will have to decide again on the objections of the "Change we believe in" list, the Higher Court in Zaječar decided
The dean of the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš, Natalija Jovanović, says that after the knife attack, she feels unsafe and that she receives "friendly messages" that she is threatened
Nine days have passed since she became the dean of the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš Natalija Jovanovic attacked with a knife. Soon after that, her husband requested police protection for her, but to this day there is no response from the MUP.
"I feel anxious. My middle grandson, who is ten years old, cries all the time. The first few days after the knife attack, he couldn't go to school, he didn't sleep at night." she says for "Južne Vesti".
"My husband and my daughters feel threatened. We have supposedly 'friendly' messages that I am threatened, that they will harm my family members and me. I liked to walk around the city, you could see me everywhere, it was a pleasure for me. Now my family does not allow me to do that. My husband drives me to work and takes me from work. I really have fears and I am worried, but I am no less determined to fight to the end to fulfill the demands of the students."
In addition to threats and "friendly messages" that she is endangered, she is afraid, as she states, of "dehumanization, hate speech and untruths spread about her by certain regime media."
"You can't imagine that someone would even think of such stupid things, let alone say them. It seems that someone is afraid of me or I don't know for what exact reasons they want me to be gone. Even if I'm gone, this won't stop. What the students are doing is a great humane thing, which has no price. These are universal values and I really don't know who can be against them," says the dean.
Apart from the media, representatives of the authorities are also responsible, he believes.
"I think that the murder of Oliver Ivanovic and other unsolved murders are a sufficient warning for the entire history of civilization, as well as the murder of the democratically elected prime minister. Those murders happened right after the hate speech in the tabloids and in the speeches of the representatives of the authorities and their interpreters of reality. It's as if someone let them off the chain, that's how the representatives of those tabloid media look," Jovanović points out.
Statement by Aleksandar Vučić
He also believes that the statement of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, about Nis having the "three evils", where he also classified it, contributed to everything.
"He gave a direct message to the institutions he controls: 'Hold on, attack!'. What evil did the three of us do to anyone? How did we threaten anyone? Mr. Đorđe Stanković and I are participating in peaceful demonstrations. As far as I know, Mr. Dragan Milić had a different strategy. I don't understand who we are threatening, except that someone might have been afraid of our political capacities," she says.
He emphasizes that he is not a politician, but that he is expressing his civic attitude towards injustice and irresponsibility, as well as the way in which the regime tries to "turn citizens into subjects".
For now, there is no information from the Police Administration in Nis about whether a security assessment was done and what exactly was determined.
