"It seems to me that it is important to say that what the demonstrators are demanding from Serbia is i students, the same thing that Serbia demands The European CommissionMarta Kos said in an interview for N1 Slovenia.
As she assessed, Serbia is stagnating and must take many steps in order to be able to continue negotiations.
"The EC demands urgent reforms from Serbia, above all changes in the electoral legislation, changes in media laws and the appointment of electronic media regulators, for which, as he says, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić gave guarantees at the meeting. The deadline for urgent steps is three to four weeks," she pointed out. "I expressed my protest to President Vučić for the implementation of violence and intimidation of non-governmental organizations."
How did it happen that the Slovenian European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, four days after the landmark protest in Belgrade, described the meeting with the Serbian President Vučić as constructive?
"My responsibility is to bring it back to the European path, on which it has stagnated in the last few months. And I will always advocate for us to talk to politicians, to those people who can do something. Tell me who we can talk to at this moment in Serbia, in order to achieve reforms, and all that is also demanded by the demonstrators, students and the opposition. That was the topic of my conversation with President Vučić. At the moment, Serbia does not have a government, I said that it is stagnant, it has to take many steps to we could continue negotiations at all", she stated.
