"It is a shame to call the fight for therapy popular. Apologize," said Tamara Stojanović in the author's text, forwarded to the media from SSP.
"Your statement that 'SMS treatment popular method of treatment' is not only inappropriate, it is humiliating for every family that struggles to ensure their child's basic right to therapy. As the mother of a child with developmental disabilities, I am telling you: Nothing about this fight is POPULAR," emphasized Tamara Stojanović.
Peppered physalis
She stated that "one hour of physical therapy costs 35-40 euros".
"Our children do not need two sessions a month, but continuous work several times a week, for years. These are thousands and thousands of euros that families have to provide themselves because the system does not cover real needs. Strollers for disabled child they cost from 5.000 euros and up. Neurological car seat around 4.000 euros. Communicator for a child who cannot speak - about 8.500 euros. These are not luxury products. These are the basic means without which a child cannot move, be safe or communicate", emphasized Tamara Stojanović.
She asked Nada Matsuru "Is it 'POPULAR' for a parent to make their child's medical records public?" or when "family privacy is laid bare in front of unknown people?"
"Is it 'POPULAR' when you depend on the good will of the citizens because the system does not work? No. It is the humiliation we are going through because we have no other choice," said Tamara Stojanović.
In the text, she assessed that the former spokeswoman for the Emergency Service in Belgrade, Dr. Nada Matsura, shows a lack of understanding of reality with her statement.
"Your words show a frightening level of insolence, a lack of understanding of the reality in which families of children with disabilities live. When someone from a public position relativizes our struggle, it's not just a poorly worded sentence, it's a message that the problem is being pushed under the carpet. The shame is not on the parents who are begging for help. The shame is on the system that brought them to this," Tamara Stojanović points out.
A mother who popularly treats her child
As an additional absurdity, she cites the statements of the Minister of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski, who believes that parents need training on how to take care of their children.
"Imagine that audacity! While parents are fighting to provide therapies, aids and treatment, the state's message is that we need education, not systemic support. And shame on anyone who calls that struggle 'POPULAR'. We are not concerned with popularity. We are concerned with the survival and progress of our children," said Tamara Stojanović.
She called on SNS MP Nada Matsura to publicly apologize if there is any political and human responsibility and to propose concrete solutions instead of easy statements so that no child would be dependent on SMS messages to get therapy, a stroller or a communicator.
"Our children are not a subject for rhetorical constructions. They are living beings who deserve systemic support," emphasizes Tamara Stojanović, who signed the text with "a mother who 'POPULARLY' treats a child."
