The new commander of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit (SAJ) Igor Žmirić became the owner of a villa in the new prestigious settlement "Aval Valley", which is worth more than 400.000 euros, he reveals. KRIK.
The text states that the villa is being built by Nenad Šekularac - a man convicted of attempted murder and the brother of the famous Aleksandra Biba Šekularac, who was arrested during Sablja because of her closeness to the leaders of the Zemun clan.
In an interview for KRIK, Šekularac confirmed that he was building a villa for Žmirić and explained that the policeman did not have enough money for this investment, and that he was "helping" him.

Posting and protesting
When Igor Žmirić was appointed head of the elite Special Anti-Terrorist Unit in November last year, the public was outraged.
The reason was that Žmirić had previously "stood out" in the violent suppression of student protests. He was also one of the main participants in the events of August last year - when students were forcibly taken to the Government building where, as they claim, they were mistreated with threats and insults, which was first publicly spoken about by student Nikolina Sinđelić.
The brutality towards the students probably recommended him to become the head of the unit that until then was led by Colonel Spasoje Vulevic, during whose time SAJ did not participate in the violent suppression of student protests. Now, with the arrival of Žmirić, it is believed that this unit has also been placed under the complete control of President Aleksandar Vučić.
KRIK reveals details that further call into question the appointment of Žmirić at the head of this important police unit: he has a friend with a file who helped him get a new expensive property.
Namely, the new police commander is doing business with Nenad Šekularac - a man who was convicted of attempted murder and the twin brother of Aleksandra Biba Šekularac, who was arrested during Sablja because of her closeness to the notorious Zemun clan.
Žmirić and his wife bought a plot of 10 ares in the place where Šekularac is building a settlement for the wealthy, called "Avalske doline". The company of Šekularac's wife is currently building a villa with a swimming pool on that lot.
This villa is worth more than 400.000 euros on the market, according to the estimate of the real estate agency. It is not clear where the policeman got the money for this investment, since his monthly salary is slightly more than 2.000 euros.
However, the relationship between Žmirić and Šekularac does not end at the business level.
Šekularac's posts on social networks, in which he calls Žmirić a "comrade" and defends him from public criticism, indicate that they are quite close.
"What are these comments? He is a family man, he gave three children to this country, a top professional in his work, honest, an athlete, a friend, otherwise without affairs or stains. I congratulate Žmirić and best of luck," wrote Šekularac, when the public criticized Žmirić's appointment as head of SAJ.
The police officer refused to speak for KRIK when the journalist called him. "I'm busy and I don't have time to talk to you," said Žmirić.
He didn't even want to answer the questions we sent him by text, instead he referred us to the MUP.
Unlike him, Šekularac explained his relationship with Žimirć in detail.
The relationship between Šekularc and Žmirić
He said that he has known the SAJ commander, whom he calls "Žmirke", for 20 years and that he helped him become the owner of this villa, which, he said, is now worth 350 euros.
"He sold the apartment, gave me that certain part of the money. I sold it (the villa) to him at the lowest possible price. (Construction) is going slowly because we are helping a little, that man does not have the money to pay all at once."
He says he understands that his conviction for attempted murder can cause problems for Žmirić, but claims he was unjustly convicted.
"They wounded me, and I was convicted in the justice of God. I was harmed there, but in our country everything can turn around, they paid and I was convicted in the end."
Criminologist Dušan Stanković told KRIK that security checks are carried out for all members of the police, and especially for the top managers of police units, and it is questionable how Žmirić passed them.
"The comment on social media and the fact that he bought the plot from him (indicates) that they have 'friendship-acquaintance ties', which are defined as such in the law and are part of the security checks," says Stanković. "The validity of security checks is being questioned."
Stanković says that he is not aware that any salary in the MUP can afford the purchase of such a villa and that the origin of Žmirić's property should be investigated.
He also believes that Žmirić's association with the man who was convicted calls into question his authority in the unit and may have a bad influence on members of the SAJ.
"They can be demotivated and wonder what they are doing there. It is possible that some will leave the unit or that some others who want to apply for that unit will not do so, which in the end may result in the arrival of even more people who fit the regime or have connections with Žmirić and people who are from that milieu - that is, loyal to the government," says Stanković.

"I helped as much as I could"
Welcome to 'Avalske doline', a new prestigious neighborhood of luxury houses that combines the best of modern life and the peace of nature. We are creating an oasis for those who want to enjoy comfort, elegance and complete privacy", says the website of the company that is building this neighborhood for the wealthy.
This complex of modern houses is emerging in the weekend settlement of Slatina at the foot of Avala, in an area that was covered by fields and forests for decades.
The villas will have private swimming pools, video surveillance and security, as well as regular green maintenance, according to the "Aval Valley" website. As stated, seven different types of villas are being built, the areas of which range from 140 to over 400 square meters.
One of them, with an area of more than 200 square meters, is being built on the lot of the new SAJ commander, Igor Žmirić.
For this reason, KRIK journalists visited the "Aval valleys".
It is impossible to enter the settlement unnoticed, and as soon as the journalists arrived, a guard on a quad came up to them. Thinking they were potential buyers, he still let them look around unhindered.
The complex is still being built and expanded. Some villas are completely finished and occupied, while others are in various stages of construction. Žmirić's house is almost finished - all that's left is to pave the pool and decorate the yard, as the journalists saw.
The construction of a villa with a swimming pool brought the commander of the anti-terrorist unit into a business relationship with a man who has a criminal record.
Namely, Nenad Šekularac, convicted of attempted murder, and his wife Danijela are behind the "Aval Valley" project, according to documents collected by KRIK journalists from the cadastre and business register.
Danijela is also the owner of the company "Avalske dolina", which is building the settlement, including Žmirić's villa - the construction of which began in February 2023. The villa was built on a plot of about 10 ares that Žmirić and his wife, according to the notary, bought from Šekularac last year.
The construction permit states that the construction of this villa costs more than 10 million dinars (85 thousand euros). However, its market value is over 400.000 euros, according to the real estate agency hired by KRIK.
It is not clear how the policeman secured the money for the mansion in this luxury neighborhood. Žimirć's salary, in the police unit where he worked before SAJ, was slightly more than 2.000 euros.
In an interview with KRIK, Šekularac claims that he secured the money for the construction of Villa Žmirić by selling an apartment in Belgrade, but also that he helped him.
"Žmirić came to me, asked me if he wanted to go to polluted Belgrade. And I helped him buy from me. I gave it to him at the lowest possible price. At what price, I really can't say, it's private," explains Šekularac. "Now after four years (of construction) that house is somewhere around 350 thousand (euros)."
"He sold the apartment, gave me that part of the money. (Construction) is going slowly because we help a little bit, he doesn't have the money to pay all at once. If he had the money, it would be finished right away. But, he is doing it slowly and I helped him as much as I could", explains Šekularac, not wanting to specify how much money he helped him with.
It is not strange that the policeman bought a villa from Šekularac because, as he claims, they have known each other for 20 years. He addresses the SAJ commander with the nickname "Žmirke".
"He is a very good friend of mine (...) We trained together. I trained boxing before. So, we know each other from sports", Šekularac explains how they met. "I can't give up my friends if someone is in trouble (...) The man is a really honest guy and an athlete and should be where he is."
Unlike Žmirić, whom Šekularac helped, those who got in his way while he was expanding the "Aval Valley" project had serious problems.
The details are described in the criminal complaint filed against Šekularac, which was obtained by KRIK journalists.
