In a major police operation, several persons were detained as part of a financial investigation related to the reconstruction Railway stations in Novi Sad, reports N1, i.e. on the project "Modernization and reconstruction of the Hungarian-Serbian railway on the route Novi Sad - Subotica - state border (Kelebija)", announced the Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime (TOK).
Among those arrested are former minister, assistant minister, persons associated with the companies that performed the works at the railway station, announced TOK.
As a result of the previous work of the Task Force for the investigation of financial flows of money related to the project "Modernization and reconstruction of the Hungarian-Serbian railway on the route Novi Sad - Subotica - state border (Kelebija)", six people have been deprived of their liberty for the time being, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that "corrupt crimes" were committed, announced the Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime.
Who all has been arrested?
The following were arrested: Tomislav Momirovic, former minister in the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure in the period from October 2020 to October 2022; Anita Dimoski, former acting assistant minister in this ministry and head of the Sector for Railways and Intermodal Transport in the period from November 2020, and who was also the responsible person-mentor in this ministry for monitoring and implementing all activities on the Hungarian-Serbian Railway Project, section Belgrade-center - Stara Pazova and section Novi Sad - Subotica - state border (Kelebija).

He was arrested and Nebojša Šurlan, who was the acting general director of the company "Infrastruktur železnice Srbije" ad Belgrade from May 2020 to March 2024 due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of abuse of official position under Article 359 of the CC.
Nikola Trivić, responsible person in the company "Starting" doo. from Belgrade, who is suspected of committing the criminal offense of abuse of the position of a responsible person under Article 227 of the CC, as well as Siniša Jokić, who in the period from January to July 2023 acted as the director of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of the City of Novi Sad, and Veljko Novaković, the public procurement officer of this institute, who are charged with the criminal offense of abuse of official position under Article 359 of the CC, according to the statement.
Five more people were subsequently arrested - Nenad Ignjatović, the responsible person and owner of the company "Deko team" doo from Beška, Slobodanka Katanić, who was the investment manager of the company "Infrastruktur železnice Srbije" ad Belgrade and the manager of the project of modernization and reconstruction of the Hungarian-Serbian railway connection Belgrade - Budapest. Aleksandar Cvjetković, director and responsible person of the Youth Cooperative "Manager", as well as Dragan Popović and Zoran Mijajlović, responsible persons in several economic entities, were also arrested.
Proceedings against Vesić as well
The procedure also includes Goran Vesić, who was a minister in the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure in the period from October 2022 to November 2024, and who has been receiving hospital treatment since yesterday, according to the TOK announcement.
Who is being sought?
Goran Rosić, the responsible person of "TECO" doo, who actually manages the companies "Pro+Service center" doo, "Bambino shoes" and "Zevas" doo, was not found at the place of residence.
Neither Nenad Ignjatović, the responsible person and owner of the company "Deko team" doo from Beška, who is suspected of committing criminal tax audits related to VAT, nor Slobodanka Katanić, who was the investment manager of the company "Infrastruktur železnice Srbije" ad Belgrade and the manager of the project of modernization and reconstruction of the Hungarian-Serbian railway connection Belgrade - Budapest, were at the address, announced TOK.
Searches and arrests for five more persons are ongoing, according to the announcement.
Damaged the budget by 115 million dollars
As stated in the announcement, by concluding Annex 1 of the Commercial Agreement, Agreement 1, and Annexes 2,3, 4, and 1.214.100.460,43 of the Commercial Agreement, the suspects Momirović, Vesić, Dimoski, Šurlan and Katanić enabled the contractor "CRIC - CCCC" to invoice the financier and investor for the total value of the work performed on the project in the amount of 64.258.060 US dollars, as well as to perform additional work. for which the obligation of subsequent payment upon invoicing in the amount of USD 18.759.287 was assumed, whereby the contractor "CRIC - CCCC" obtained a financial benefit, in the so far determined value of at least USD 115.558.520,43, and caused damage to the budget of the Republic of Serbia in the amount of USD XNUMX, which represents the difference between the assumed financial obligations for the budget of the Republic of Serbia and the contractual price from the Commercial contract.
TOK adds that the task force continues in the coming period to start work on the research of financial flows concerning other aspects of the project "Modernization and reconstruction of the Hungarian-Serbian railway on the route Novi Sad - Subotica - state border (Kelebija)".
