The Košutnjak initiative remains the most strongly condemning the illegal cutting of the forest in Pionirski grad on Košutnjak and demands the authorities to announce who and why is cutting down the healthy forest
The initiative Košutnjak remains has warned against illegal logging forests in the Pioneer Town on Kosutnjak in Belgrade.
"The measure of "care and afforestation" with a certain number of seedlings was announced at the specified location. However, what we found was the massive felling of healthy trees, which worried the citizens of Banovo brdo and the surrounding settlements who visit Košutnjak", they pointed out from the Košutnjak Remains initiative.
As they state, it is particularly worrisome that they received information from PUK "Gradsko zelenilo" Rakovica, under whose authority this part of the forest is located, that they did not participate in the organization or execution of these works, nor were they officially informed about the felling, the activists warned.

They pointed out that this, now bare, plot is located just below the sports and recreation center, which raises doubts about the intentions behind this act.
"Is there a plan to build some facility that the public has not been informed about? Who is behind this logging and in whose name is it being carried out?", they ask from this initiative, demanding an urgent response from the competent institutions.
"We will continue to fight for the preservation of Kosutnjak and other symbols of Belgrade from party tycoons and investor urbanism that harm the public interest," the initiative statement added.
