"I have never signed for any political party or movement participating in the elections." As a journalist, even if my dad was a candidate, I wouldn't sign his list." This is how journalist Jelena Zorić commented for "Danas" that her name, without her knowledge, was on two election lists - "Sorry, this is for you" and "Serbia in the West".
And she is not the only one. Among those whose signatures, without approval, were among those submitted to GIK, are actress Bojana Maljević, whose signature was on Usama Zukorlić's list, as well as Sofija Todorović from the Youth Initiative for Human Rights, whose name was forged. on one of the leaves.
On the official websites of election commissions (republican, city, provincial) there is no instruction on how citizens can check whether their signature is on an election list.
For example, before the presidential elections in Montenegro, which were held in March this year, there was an application that citizens could use to check whether their signatures of support were found in the database of support for candidates for the president of Montenegro.
The Youth Initiative for Human Rights has published a recommendation on how you can check if your signature has been forged to support a electoral list in the upcoming elections.
As they state, what is needed is to write several emails and send them to the following addresses: izbori@parlament.rs, rik@parlament.rs, pik@skupštinavojvodine.rs, gradskaizbornakomisija@beograd.gov.rs or to the address of local election commissions.
In the text of the email it is necessary to write:
Dear Sir/Madam,
Please let me know if I have given a statement of support for an electoral list (emphasize which level of election it is: for deputies, deputies of the AP Vojvodina or councilors in local elections) for the upcoming elections on December 17, 2023. If you find my statement, please, in accordance with Article 26 of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data, allow me to see it immediately, as well as provide me with a copy of the statement of support.
Below is my personal information:

Prosecutor's Office to react
Without the intention of questioning the independence of the prosecutor's work, the Monitoring Mission of the Line calls on the competent public prosecutor's offices to urgently and ex officio investigate cases of forgery of voter support signatures on several electoral lists in order to establish the truth, protect the integrity of the electoral process and bring those responsible to justice.
"If there was a violation of the law, the consequences are even more severe, since the suspicions also apply to some of the lists that the election commissions have already officially announced, so voters are left with the option to vote for lists that reached the ballot using criminal acts," it is stated. in the statement.
As he adds, it is an absurd fact that so far 12 electoral lists have been announced in the local elections in Belgrade, and that for most of them (seven) there are allegations of falsification of citizens' support signatures, as well as for one list in the parliamentary elections, which seriously undermines legitimacy. election process.
"The Prosecutor's Office is an institution that must actively and quickly react to prevent such practices, which make legal procedures meaningless and undermine citizens' confidence in elections, before election day. The existing legal solutions do not provide election commissions with the possibility to "pause" the election process until the prosecutor's office establishes the facts, so urgent prosecutorial response is even more necessary. In the mentioned cases of falsification of signatures of citizens' support, we are talking about potential criminal acts of abuse, i.e. unauthorized collection of personal data of citizens and falsification of official documents."
The Crta observation mission reminds the public that in the 2016 and 2022 parliamentary elections, cases of forgery of signatures of support were recorded and that they remained without a judicial epilogue.
