High Representative Of the European Union for foreign policy and security Kaja Callas said on Monday that EU candidate countries "have been made clear" that they should not participate in the May 9 Moscow at the Victory Day parade in World War II.
Callas, at the press conference after the meeting of EU foreign ministers, emphasized that it was clearly stated that "some member states will not look favorably on the participation in the parade in Moscow on May 9 due to Russia's all-out aggression against Ukraine."
She announced that she will visit Belgrade and Pristina later in May, stating that the dialogue on the normalization of relations must continue.
"We appointed a new representative for the dialogue and that process should continue," Kalas stressed.
It is best for the whole region to be in the EU
She said that on Sunday and Monday, EU foreign ministers had a good debate about the Western Balkans and that, if you look at the map of the region, "it is clear that it geographically belongs to Europe and should be part of the EU."
"The best way to lower tensions in the region is for everyone to be in the EU, because the Union is a peace project and brings about a calming of tensions between countries," she said.
"That's why the process of European integration is important and we need progress. Albania and Montenegro are taking good steps, implementing reforms and we will have some success stories from there," predicted Kalas.
According to her words, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is in a constitutional crisis and any procedure of overthrowing the state is not unacceptable.
"Political leaders should bridge differences, not strengthen them. During my visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, I saw that European integration is something everyone agrees on and we should go in that direction," Kalas believes.
