President Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Milos Vucevic stated on Friday (May 2) that during the vote at the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad on who should return to studies, "theft occurred", which will be investigated by the Security and Information Agency (BIA) and the Prosecutor's Office for High-Tech Crime.
"The theft of electronic voting by students of the Faculty of Law is fascinating. It must be investigated," said Vučević, as a guest on the program of Television Prva.
"Voting lasted five to seven days, electronically and anonymously, and students had to be registered on a certain website and use their student email addresses. Until the last hour and a half before the end of the voting, the average number of votes was about 10 students per hour. During the last hour, that number increased drastically - 14 people voted per minute for blocking classes," said Vučević.
According to him, in the last hour, 350 votes were recorded for blocking classes.
"They waited to see which of the students did not vote, since there are 3.200 students at the Faculty of Law with the right to vote. Until one hour before midnight, less than 2.000 students had voted. Then they saw who did not come out to vote, so they Blockers, professors, network administrators from the Faculty of Technical Sciences, or whoever is the administrator of that network, saw who didn't vote, so they started voting on their behalf," Vučević claims.
He stated that the BIA has initiated proceedings and that all students who wish to study have filed a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor's Office for High-Tech Crime.
"To properly investigate who entered there, from which addresses, since 10 addresses from Paraćin voted before midnight. So let's see if we have 10 students from Paraćin at the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad," said Vučević.
What happened at the Faculty of Law?
"Vreme" already wrote about the case from the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad. There, the faculty organized an online student vote on tuition reimbursement.
When information about a possible survey of students appeared, the plenary session of the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad made a decision to boycott this type of statement. As a student of this faculty explained to "Vreme", there were several reasons for such a decision - first of all, the students in the blockade believed that only the plenum could make decisions on the eventual termination of the blockade.
In addition, there was a fear among the students that the voting could be irregular, given the fact that no definitive data on the number of students of this faculty could be found, but different numbers were bid in different places.
However, the faculty expressly assured the students that there is no possibility of the voting taking place irregularly.
"Student complaints will be organized through the Student Service, through which the Faculty regularly communicates with its students and to which each student has access through a personalized account, based on a username and password, with all the technical protection measures that exist on this service," the faculty announced, with an additional guarantee:
"This system prevents any abuse of declarations."
Suddenly "irregularities"
However, as a larger number of students spoke out against tuition reimbursement, headlines began to appear in the tabloids directly accusing the "grabbers" and "blockers" of illegally manipulating votes. Criminal charges were also mentioned.
Voting closed on April 25 at 23.59:1.245 p.m., and two hours before that, the votes of several hundred students who were against tuition reimbursement began to come in, turning the result into a final 977 to XNUMX.
"The Faculty of Law in Novi Sad has accreditation for conducting online classes. Many students were afraid that a positive outcome of the survey could mean online classes and the end of the blockade, which is why they decided to vote at the last minute. Officially, the position of the plenum of our faculty did not change until the end - and that is a boycott," one of the students of the Faculty of Law told "Vreme".
"What is disputed in all of this? What is disputed is that they lost," concludes this student.
