On the cars of professors who live in Univerzitetskom settlement on New Belgrade, in Block 32, tires were punctured, writes Nova.rs.
Cars are parked in a neighborhood where only university professors, scientists and employees of institutes live. The Nova.rs reporter found nine vehicles with punctured tires in the parking lot.
Professor Ranko Dragović, who teaches at the Faculty of Arts in Niš, tells Nova.rs that one tire was punctured on both of his cars.
"Someone did this on purpose, since they were not punctured on all the vehicles in the row. The question arises whether this is someone's message. The police should answer that, and if they don't answer, we can't rule out that this is a political message," says Dragović.
Dejan Šabić, a professor at the Faculty of Geography, whose car also had a punctured tire, states that it is indicative that the tires were punctured for the first time in the Block 32 parking lot, and that they have lived in that neighborhood for 20 years.
"This incident brings unrest and anxiety among the parents and children living in this block. The question for the police is what they will do to expose the perpetrators and to ensure safety and restore trust," he points out.
Pressure on professors?
Šabić states that professors from Belgrade University have been exposed to all kinds of pressures in recent months, and that these pressures come from the highest positions in the country.
"We are presented in certain media as destroyers of the state. I would not like to prejudge, but there is a possibility that this act is an act of warning," he believes.
As they told Nova.rs, the University Foundation called the police, who are practically across the street, but they came after more than an hour.
