The expert commission, headed by academician Branislav Mitrović, chose a design solution that envisages construction in the area of Avala Film, opposite the Belgrade forest Košutnjak, claims Nemanja Plavšić from the initiative "Košutnjak remains".
"The expert jury claims that the chosen solution does not envisage the occupation of new green areas, however, the citizens are justifiably concerned that the construction will endanger the green fund in this area," Plavšić pointed out and added that this is unacceptable. "We will not allow investor urbanism in Čukarica."
Plavšić pointed out that the fact that the first-prized work is the author's work of the dean of the Faculty of Architecture does not lessen the concerns of citizens. He announced that the "Košutnjak remains" initiative, together with interested citizens, will closely monitor the development of the situation and strongly react to any threat to the forest fund.
"We request Professor Lojanica, a man who demonstrated great personal integrity during the student blockades, to save this area from possible devastation with the attention of experts from the authorities", said Plavsic.
He warned that the citizens will be ready to react if they notice the cutting of forests or other phenomena of devastation of greenery in this part of the city.
Plavšić reminded that last week the Košutnjak remains initiative submitted a criminal complaint to the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade against unknown perpetrators due to illegal forest cutting in Pionirski Grad on Košutnjak.
"We will fight against illegal logging and party tycoons at every point in Belgrade, especially in our Košutnjak. We will not give them peace, because Kosutnjak remains"Plavšić warned.
