At the markets Deram i Kalenic in Belgrade, activists of the Serbian Progressive Party set up promotional stands with the image of Aleksandar Vučić on Sunday. It was as if the election campaign had begun. As if everything is in the best order.
It's just that they were faced with the fact that nothing is wrong, that it is no longer understood anywhere that SNS members, after everything that has happened in the last five months, can appear as if no shots were fired at citizens on March 15 in Kralja Milana Street in Belgrade sound cannon.
And that is just the last drop in a flood of drops that spilled over the brimming cup of indignation. After thirteen years of systematic implementation of abnormality and the rule of corruption and one man, after thirteen years of imposing single-mindedness and violence on a part of society that cannot see that the president of Serbia is not a fraud but the Novi Serbian messiah, a large number of citizens are simply fed up. Encouraged by student protests, they began to resist.
Eggs against egg-laying
Thus, there was a conflict with eggs on Zvezdara on Sunday, so the progressives called the Police Brigade for help. What one of the present citizens with a whistle around his neck said: "Eggs against eggs, what is not clear to anyone".
In Vračar, police officers protected progressive activists from citizens who loudly protested against them. In the end, the members of the SNS picked up their things and left, the gathered citizens celebrated this small victory and kissed and kissed the policemen.
In Čačak, citizens broke into the Municipal Assembly. In Niš, due to a civil protest and a barrage of eggs, the official meeting of SNS, which was supposed to be attended by Vucevic and Brnabić, was postponed. Bogatić is not calming down, and neither are Kraljevo, Obrenovac, Novi Sad...
They persecute the SNS as "fascist formations, Jews"
For the regime media, there is a "horrific terror" at work carried out by "Sholak's criminals". In the words of hittwiter Vrica Bradić: the opposition attacks innocent progressives as "Jewish fascist formations".
When one excludes the spectacular stupidity of this statement, an insult to all victims of the Holocaust, this isolated propaganda slogan clearly shows a marketing distortion of the heated events in Serbia. If this incomparable comparison is already resorted to, it will rather be that the progressives pass like the Nazis and their collaborators through the years of oppression, for example, in the Netherlands in 1945 after liberation.
Serbia is just getting liberated. Of course, not from the unique in history, Nazi evil, but from the progressive half-world that rode on it.
Creepy terror
Throwing eggs, first of all, at progressive dignitaries in the regime's media is presented as "creepy terror". Pretending to be calm and carefree, Vučić called on the police to arrest all rioters, prosecutors to charge them, judges to convict them.
The President of the Republic threatens to restore the "honest world" that can no longer tolerate the terror of schoolboys, i.e. those of their loyalists to oppose the "thugs".
The deans were urged to call the police to evict the students blocking the faculties.
It all reeks of panic.
The system is broken.
Throwing eggs isn't nice, but it certainly can't be characterized as "terrorism", and neither can an attempt to cause bodily harm. In a situation of general lawlessness, eggs are a benign "weapon" that citizens resort to to express their frustration with the non-functioning of state institutions.
But Vučić obviously has to do something, because the reign of fear, on which he has largely built the system he heads, is rapidly crumbling. Due to general civil disobedience, his authority, which had been carefully built for a decade and a half, was increasingly being called into question among his followers. The president is humiliated.
He can apply the method he is skilled in, to bomb buildings against citizens, so that then the Gendarmerie and the Police Brigade come to the aid of those citizens who are more equal than others. He announced that.
There could also be mass arrests that would result in disproportionately harsh sentences. And he announced that.
The image and situation of the Serbian government could be seen in Ćaciland: a few student-loyalists, a large number of paid unfortunates from Kosovo and southern Serbia, Red Berets and hooded men ready to thresh. Around them are the cordons of the Gendarmerie, a metal fence and strapons. One hundred meters away, next to the National Assembly, a sound cannon.
Vučić will contrast this with student protests and civil revolt that is gaining momentum with the aim of intimidating disobedient citizens.
Just not to provoke them to switch from eggs to pork halves.
