The Minister of Culture and President of the Coordinating Body for Gender Equality, Maja Gojković, said today, on the occasion of December 10 - International Human Rights Day, that the state devotedly nurtures culture and a social environment in which human rights are fully realized and respected.
Regardless of sex, gender, national or cultural affiliation, economic or social position, all citizens of Serbia enjoy inviolable and equal rights to live with dignity and quality, assessed Maja Gojković.
According to her, this first of all implies the dedicated and continuous implementation of public policies that create conditions for quality health care, education, employment and the fight against all forms of violence and discrimination. We are aware that women, girls and girls face multiple obstacles in the realization of human rights and equality, and that is why the state works thoroughly and systematically to remove them.
We dedicated a special place in the normative strategic framework to women, through strengthened opportunities for participation in all social flows, including the political and public space, said Maja Gojković.
She added that the right to work is a condition for realizing all other rights, so the priorities are employment and strengthening of female entrepreneurship. We are focusing special attention on fellow citizens who have suffered or are at risk of any form of discrimination and violence, as the most drastic form of human rights violation, said Maja Gojković.
International Human Rights Day has been celebrated on December 10 since 1950, on the day when the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was signed two years earlier, which for the first time in human history recognized the right of all people to "life, liberty and security without any distinction." .
