President of the Freedom and Justice Party Dragan Djilas together with the official of that party Đorđe Aleksić (SSP) he was injured exactly one year ago, in December 2024, in an incident that happened after midnight in Belgrade's Vojvode Stepe Street. The party said at the time that Djilas found people putting up posters against him, after which both he and Aleksic were physically attacked.
Official of the Serbian Progressive Party Luka Petrović at the press conference, on the occasion of the fight with SSP president Dragan Đilas, said that the SNS youth were just doing their job by putting up posters, while Đilas and his bodyguard attacked the youth and added that the youth "very well knew how to defend themselves".
Đilas recalled this incident and "kindly asked the Ministry of Interior of Serbia and the Prosecutor's Office to return his sweater."
"They took it exactly one year ago on the night when Đorđe Aleksić and I were beaten by Luka Petrović, a close associate of Aleksandar Vučić, and a group of ten SNS hooligans," Đilas added. "My sweater was taken to do, as I was told, forensic analyses. I'm sure they sent it to the famous forensic laboratory in Wiesbaden, but I believe that by now the Germans have returned it. So if it can be returned to me too. Winter is coming, we don't know if there will be heating, so that sweater would mean a lot to me."
No proceedings have been initiated
Even more importantly, Đilas added that "the Prosecution has not initiated any proceedings against the SNS beaters, despite the video showing Luka Petrović hitting him in the head, and how a dozen hooligans knock them down and kick them, swearing at them and calling for them to be killed."
"Neither the hematomas on the head nor the bruises on the body, nor the fact that Đorđe could not walk for several days, nor the reactions from Europe were enough for the Prosecutor's Office to initiate proceedings against Luka Petrović, the real mayor of Belgrade, and his thugs," Đilas wrote. "As well as open ones the threats of Aleksandar Šapić, the formal mayor, which he sent me in a message, are not enough for the Prosecutor's Office to react. All this shows what kind of country we live in. Honestly, I didn't expect any reaction from prosecutor Nenad Stefanović. But for none of those who claim to be professionals to speak up, that's still a bit too much. They are probably waiting until they retire so they can boldly say what they have."
