Three high-ranking commanders of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, along with their family members, were killed in airstrikes
In a series of airstrikes carried out by Israel before dawn on Gaza, at least 13 people were killed and 20 wounded, Al Jazeera reports.
According to "CBS" information, three senior commanders of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad were killed, along with their family members, while they were sleeping in their homes.
On the occasion of the attack, the Palestinian authorities announced that "Israel is a terrorist state and will be held accountable for its crimes", and warned the international community that in such situations "it has the obligation to do everything to stop Israeli crimes and violations of international law".
Response to the attack
The Israel Defense Forces said their operation targeted three members of Islamic Jihad, who they claim were responsible for the recent rocket attacks on Israel.
The head of Palestinian Hamas said that Israel's announcement was meaningless because the attack "will not bring security to the occupier, but more resistance."
Islamic Jihad spokesman Hazem Qassem warned that Israel "bears responsibility for the consequences of this escalation."

From violence to violence
After the death of the well-known Palestinian activist Kader Adnan, who was on hunger strike for 87 days in an Israeli prison, members of Islamic Jihad fired rockets into Israeli territory.
The Association of Palestinian Prisoners claimed that Adnan was arrested without grounds.
After his death and the rocketing of Israeli territory, Israeli missiles hit the densely populated Gaza Strip.
For those killed in this morning's attack, who have been identified as Khalil al-Bakhtini, Jihad al-Ghanam and Tariq Iz al-Den, Islamic Jihad says they will take revenge.
What is Palestinian Islamic Jihad?
Palestinian Islamic Jihad is a militant group in Gaza founded in 1981 by Palestinian students from Egypt. Their goal is the establishment of a Palestinian state on the territory of the West Bank, Gaza and other areas under Israeli control.
They refuse any negotiations with the Israeli authorities.
The activities of this group are financed by Iran, which sends them money and weapons, which worsens the relationship between Israel and that country. Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid believes that Islamic Jihad is like an "Iranian satellite that wants to destroy Israel" and that "it must be stopped urgently."
In addition to its base in Gaza, Islamic Jihad has leadership in Lebanon and Syria, from where it maintains close ties to Iranian officials.
