The film that will close this year's Fest is being talked about more than the film that will open this international film festival on February 24, which is an understandable and justified reaction of the public.
It is a film by Purisa Đorđević, Mouth full of dirt, which this giant of Serbian and Yugoslav cinema finished last year, a few weeks before his death.
Jugoslav Pantelić, artistic director and selector of the Fest, singles out Mouth full of dirt "as the biggest surprise from the entire program of this year's Fest" and emphasizes that Đorđević's last film did not have the honor of closing the 51st Fest out of respect for the great author, but because he "created a great work of art based on an equally great novel. Thanks to Purisha for giving us hope from above with this film in the authorship that this cinematography deserves."
Film Mouth full of dirt is a screen adaptation of Branimir Šćepanović's novel of the same name, and Đorđević also wrote the screenplay.
The 51st Fest will be opened with the international premiere of the film The crime is mine French director Francois Ozon.
During the ten days of the festival, 113 films from 39 countries will be shown, 107 of which are premieres. The festival will take place in nine cinema halls. 17 productions from 15 countries will compete for the main prize of FEST, the Belgrade winner for the best film: Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Albania, France, Germany, Spain, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, Iran, Mexico, Australia and USA.
Serbia will be represented by Nina Ognjanović's film, The road will pass here, which had its world premiere at the 29th Slamdance Festival in Park City, where it won the audience award and special jury recognition. The focus of the film is an unexpected visit that will fundamentally change the life of an isolated village in Serbia. Jana Bjelica, Zlatan Vidović, Svetozar Cvetković and Pavle Čemerkić are in the main roles.
Director Lordan Zafranović and producer Dobrivoje Tanasijević - Dan Tana will receive the honorary award of the 51st Festa "Belgrade Winner" for outstanding contribution to film art.
