Continuation of flights
Upon his arrival in Dubai, Jović stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Air Serbia, following the instructions of the President of the Republic and the Government of Serbia, continue to organize the evacuation of citizens from the war-affected areas of the Middle East.
He stated that the national airline was one of the first in the world to conduct an evacuation flight to the United Arab Emirates as soon as the safe air corridors were opened, adding that until now mainly domestic airlines from the UAE operated on that route.
"Several hundred of our citizens have already been evacuated with those flights," Jović said, stressing that this is the first evacuation flight in a war zone in the Middle East.
According to his words, it is possible to organize additional flights in the coming days, given the great interest of Serbian citizens who have found themselves in the United Arab Emirates and neighboring countries.
Jović said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with Air Serbia, continues intensive work on the evacuation of citizens from Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar, who will be transported via Riyadh in the coming days, as well as from the UAE on special flights to Belgrade.
The Ambassador of Serbia to the United Arab Emirates, Vladimir Marić, reminded that thousands of Serbian citizens live in that country and announced the continuation of the organization of special flights. According to him, a second evacuation flight can be expected by the end of the week.
