As of today, Serbia is the owner of 100 percent of the shares of the Air Serbia airline, Minister of Finance Siniša Mali said, RTS reported.
Mali explained that an agreement was concluded for the Republic of Serbia to take over the remaining 16,42 percent of the shares of the airline "Air Serbia" from "Etihad Airways", which made the company completely owned by the state.
He said that the necessary paperwork will be completed today and thanked "Etihad Airways". "Since 2013, they have been partners and co-owners of Air Serbia." Due to their business decisions, they are leaving Air Serbia. It's up to us to continue to grow that company," Mali said. He pointed out that "Air Serbia" is the largest airline in the region.
"From a company that was in bankruptcy, we turned it into a leader that now flies to four continents, to a large number of countries, and we have become an example of how, through a successful airline, you can further contribute to the economic development of the country," Mali said. . The company "Air Serbia" was created in 2013 when "Etihad Airways" took over 49 percent of the shares of the former "Jat Airways".
