Finance Minister Siniša Mali announced ten days ago that the construction of the national stadium will begin in a few weeks.
"We have signed the contract for the infrastructure, literally the workers' camps are being set up now and the work will start in the next few weeks," he said.
Then on Thursday, Minister of Trade Tomislav Momirović stated that the future EXPO 2027 complex, where the National Stadium will be located, will be a real revolution in the real estate field of Belgrade, and that it will be more important than the ring road around Belgrade, Belgrade on the water and the high-speed railway Belgrade-Novi Now.
They did not explain whether the remarks of the Fiscal Council regarding the national stadium were taken into account, as well as other ambiguities related to the announced EXPO 2027 complex.
Namely, when evaluating the budget for this year, the Fiscal Council stated that the construction of the National Stadium "will cost around 65 million euros this year alone, and that the economic profitability has not been publicly demonstrated to taxpayers." Projects from sports or any other field should not be automatically removed from the list of priorities, but their presence in the budget should be supported by studies that show that they are the most needed, which is also foreseen by the law".
These studies have not yet been published, according to the Fiscal Council.
Next, the "Together" party demands that a Commission of Inquiry be launched in the Serbian Parliament, where Ministers Siniša Mali and Goran Vesić, and Belgrade Mayor Aleksandar Šapić will explain why the plan to relocate the Fair to Surčin is a priority.
Nebojša Zelenović, co-president of the "Together" party, says that the planned "Expo 2027" with the settlement and hotels "will cost the citizens of Serbia more than one billion euros", that "both the fair and the stadium already exist", and reminds that "the Fiscal Council requested the resolution of the project ".
"In a situation where we are in debt in various ways, the state takes a loan and lends itself." We will pay that loan," Zelenović believes.
The Expo 2027 complex, which includes the national stadium and accompanying accommodation, commercial facilities and exhibition space, will cover approximately 167 hectares, according to the Decree on the Determination of the Spatial Plan of the Special Purpose Area of the National Football Stadium, which comes into force on Thursday.
President Aleksandar Vučić said that the national stadium will cost 250 million euros. By adding up the loans approved in connection with the stadium, economic experts arrived at 900 million euros.
Đorđe Miketić, a member of the opposition party Zajedno in the Serbian Parliament, said that that party had information that the Belgrade Fair would be demolished and moved to a field in Surčina, and reminded that part of the Fair's parking lot had already been transferred to "Belgrade on the water."
