Newly elected Prime Minister Đuro Macut took over from former Prime Minister Miloš Vučević, and the first session is held on Thursday Vlade in the new convocation.
On his Instagram account, former Prime Minister Vučević congratulated the new Government of Serbia and Prime Minister Macut on taking office and said that "in a time of great challenges and difficult tasks, it is important that they do everything to preserve national unity, to calm tensions in society, and to always and everywhere represent and protect state and national interests."
Vučević stated that he is convinced that the Government of Serbia, headed by Macuta, "will continue the strong development of Serbia with its dedicated work and will fight for our homeland every day".
Matsut's election was marked by controversy, and those who opposed the election first complained that Matsut, who is an endocrinologist by profession, has no political experience. However, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, in explaining why he decided on Matsut, pointed out that he is "a man open to conversation and very courageous".
"A great and stable man"
Vučić then stated that Macut will bring a different discourse to our environment and contribute to calming tensions, and that he has not heard a single bad word about him.
The President of the Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, assessed that Macut is a "great, brave, calm and stable man".
The president of the Socialist Party of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, said that Macut is a good choice and that the socialists will be a constructive partner.
"Knowledge about polycystic ovaries is not a reference for running the Government"
Pavle Grbović, the president of the Movement of Free Citizens, assessed that the prime minister can be "anyone or nobody, while Vučić is the president of the state" and stated that Macut is "somewhere between those two extremes" and that "only shades of irrelevance" are involved.
The former president of Serbia and president of the Social Democratic Party, Boris Tadić, said that Macut "maybe could have been elected to the head of some scientific or health institution, but his knowledge about polycystic ovaries is certainly not a reference for leading the government, which requires a completely different kind of expertise, primarily political."
The president of the Serbia Center Movement, Zdravko Ponoš, said that "Dr. Macut's only task will be to try to turn the suit inside out, thinking that he has sufficiently masked both himself and Vučić in order to curb the anger of students and rebellious citizens due to unfulfilled demands."
Relationships with Ana Brnabić
Then it was announced that Macuto's wife works in the clinic in "Belgrade na voda" with her partner Ana Brnabić, so Macuto's relations with the authorities became clearer.
In his exposé, Macut said that "Serbia is tired of divisions and blockades."
"No one has and must not have more rights than another and that is the only measure of value. The institutions of the system must function at full capacity and that is our basic task," said Macut.
Therefore, those who oppose Matsuto's election to the position of prime minister believe that his most important role will be to try to suppress the rebellion in the universities and be a counterpart to the demands for an expert government.
