Ruska propaganda in the Serbian media space can be observed at Radio-television of Serbia, but also on other televisions with a national frequency, it was stated on the panel "Russia propaganda in the Serbian media space" organized by Demostat
Demostat executive director Tamara Bajčić and journalist Mirjana Stevanović pointed out that the results of the monitoring show that there are many more programs on Serbian television that represent the Russian side, and that less minutes are dedicated to Ukraine. Media monitoring also notes that Russia and China are mostly portrayed affirmatively in the Serbian media.
"RTS carries out a subtle kind of propaganda, and other televisions with national frequencies do not even try to hide it," said Stevanović.
The representatives of Demostat also noticed that there are already established and self-proclaimed analysts on national frequencies who spread Russian propaganda, and the example of Happy Television is given, where along with the interviewer's story, there are videos showing Russia's progress on the front, which are downloaded from media such as Rasha Today and Sputnik.
The use of the economy as part of Russian propaganda in Serbia was also highlighted, so the fact that Serbia has no other source of gas except from Russia was cited as one of the untruths that has been circulating for a long time.
Bajčić also noticed that Russia and China have more positive announcements in the media than the European Union, and the epilogue of this is that Serbian public opinion believes that Russia is the biggest investor in Serbia, and not the EU.
"One gets the impression that we are suffocating in pro-Russian and pro-Chinese propaganda," Bajčić believes.
As an interesting fact, she pointed out that public opinion surveys show that Putin is the most popular foreign politician in Serbia.
