Zaječar: The court annulled the decision of the city election commission
The city election commission will have to decide again on the objections of the "Change we believe in" list, the Higher Court in Zaječar decided
The only way to the success of the opposition and students leads through a clear unification into a functional political front - without the old illusions about "columns" and "groups of citizens", says Demostat
Prerequisite for success opposition and students is to abandon the stories about the columns and create a single patriotic-democratic front that would not be called a party, because it would respect the alleged peculiarities of the participating entities, but essentially it would have to function as a party, he assessed Demostat regarding students demand that extraordinary elections be called.
"So, despite the fashionable distaste for leadership and personal politics, he can choose the organs of the front - the president, vice-presidents, executive board, statute, program documents, and within the front he can "pluralism of opinions and interests", says the editorial comment of Demostat.
According to the opinion of the editors, possible uneasiness due to the unification and suspicion of a calculated disintegration can be relaxed by extending the organization until the "change of the system" or at least until the change of government.
Demostat indicates that the presidency of such a front should not be rotating like the Presidency of the SFRY, but should have an elected president with full powers.
"Even more effective than a front with a single electoral list would be the creation of no more than two to three opposition parties, which would be created by the integration of several of them, at the unification assemblies. So that they then form a clear coalition," said Demostat, with the remark that it might be too much to expect for now.
The editors believe that a clear abandonment of the failed policy of columns and coalitions with a built-in mechanism of disintegration means a clear departure from the so-called citizen groups, which are Vučić's old, and not only his, means of manipulation, as well as that "citizen groups" are only legitimate in the opposition as part of the front.
All Demostat researches in the last five years show clearly that the opposition's association motivates its supporters. Teaming up with students, Demostat's latest focus groups show, is even more motivating.
"It is important to distinguish between a critical public and political opposition, to distinguish between support for the student movement and the transfer of that support into an election result. Converting support and sentiment into an election result is a challenge faced by students, as the Demostat researchers concluded," the comment reads.
Demostat assesses that in any case one front in all elections against the government is the least bad or the most politically profitable solution, but also a progressive exit solution for students and the opposition.
When it comes to the composition of the electoral list behind which such a unified front would stand, it should be a matter of agreement between the actors within the front, that is, compromise maturity, where anti-partisanship must not be an advantage, let alone a moral one, Demostat points out.
