While students and parents they rioted against the arrogant progressive government, detective "Jovine" Gymnasium in Novi Sad Radivoje P. Stojković fell to his knees in the school yard at one point and, I guess, started praying to the Most High.
Perhaps that inspired the Minister of Education Dejan Vuk Stanković to state that the solution for the (rebellious) high school might be to return to the fold of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which founded it.
And maybe he just experienced enlightenment.
Historical review
It was on January 27, 1810 (on Savindan) when today's "Jovina" high school started working under the name "Serbian Orthodox High School". "Great benefactor" Sava Vuković donated 20.000 forints for this purpose.
At the time the gymnasium was founded in 1810, the Serbian Orthodox Church did not have an active patriarch, because the Ottomans abolished the Patriarchate of Pec in 1766.
The highest church leader of the Orthodox Serbs in the then Habsburg Monarchy (where Novi Sad was located) was Karlovac Metropolitan Stefan Stratimirović, who ruled the church from 1790 to 1836, and who personally blessed the establishment of the "Serbian Orthodox High School".
Enlightenment of the Minister of Education
Anyway, Vuk Stanković told Informer television:
"Perhaps the solution is to return (Jovin's high school) to the Church, which would establish an order that would have both an educational and a spiritual dimension and would return spiritual substance to high school education in Novi Sad."
Because, says the spiritual minister, high school education in Novi Sad suffers big blows from daily politics and "separatism from Vojvodina", so nothing better and more beautiful than the famous Novi Sad high school being managed by the SPC.
